Hearns against Hagler. He didn't seem to lose much of his legacy with that loss, it actually helped it.

if you mean fighters who lost the fight but came out with their reputations enhanced while the actual winner had theirs diminshed...

    kotelnik/alexander
    ruddock/tyson
    vitali/lennox (obvious)
    frazier/ali (3)
    cooper/ali
    tarver/rjj

in no way does b-hop/calzaghe qualify imo. calzaghe won the fight. they both lost the event.

Big risk of this turning into "lost the fight but shoulda won".

Martinez v Williams I - Pretty much exposed Williams.

This is an interesting point. When I was watching the fight I was of the same opinion regarding the wet spots of canvas but in the post-fight interview Roy made no mention of it whatsoever, he just gave Del Valle his due. Roy could quite easily have said "I slipped" and it would have spared his embarassment and been a credible reason. But he didn't, that shows me the KD was legit. And Del Valle definetly won the event, the KD was THE talking point post-fight.

Czar Amonsot in the Katsidis fight. Lost fight, won lots of admiration.

Ray Mercer vs Lennox Lewis, I always think what might of happened if that had been a 15 round fight, or even a 12, as Lewis looked like he had very little left by the time it ended.

Harrison over Haye. My thread following the fight clearly stated the reasons why this was correct

I'm going with Bert Cooper against Evander Holyfield. He earned a lot of respect that night.
