What were people expecting on 10 days' notice? He tried to get Ishe Smith and Smith said no. Nobody good would take this on 10 days' notice. They probably could have found someone a little better, like Darnell Boone, but you're not going to get a great opponent on 10 days notice.

They've been talking about Lemieux fighting on Dec 3 since he fought Camacho. A month ago there was talk of him fighting Ouma on this date. I assumed they were in discussions with numerous opponents before the announcement and those particular fighters would be preparing just in case. Boone would've been a great choice.

Oh well, it's good that Lemieux is staying busy and keeps getting exposure. He's on track to fighting 3 rounds in the past 6 months.

This fight is a nice step backward for Lemieux.

Gates is a lesser opponent than his last 3, but they are keeping him busy which is good. David KO 1.

Lemiux has gret power but fighting Martinez next would be redicolous. Rubio will be a good test. No way should they put Lemiux in with MArtinez after this though.

Nobody will argue with you! Lemieux next fight ( after December 3th) is almost a done deal (Lemieux - Rubio in April) then we could see in the summer a fight with Ishe Smith who as already talk about fighting Lemieux!

I don't think that Lemieux will have to fight Martinez to be a World Champion (and he will be). All will depends on what Martinez choose to do in the nexts months!

Lemieux will have to wait at least 1 year before having a shot at a belt!Till then he will learn and work hard to be ready for that shot!

Isn't Lemieux also fighting in February? That would make for a good date with Ishe Smith.

Lemieux will fight Rubio in April for the eliminator....so don't panic.

and stop to try to find some possible opponant for Martinez. Lemieux is the man and he will prove it next fall against Martinez

Why wait until 10 days before the fight?

I don't panic. It's ok if he takes his time. I'm just worried to see him eventually step from journeymen to top fighters. It wouldn't be good for him. AND, we, people from Quebec, are the ones paying for those stay busy fights, which is ridiculous because he doesn't need a stay busy fight, he's fighting all the time.

His promoter needs him, that's all.

The problem is Lemieux's promoter making him look bad by fighting this guy. It's just that no one wants to fight a young kid with so much power on such a late notice unless they are heavily compensated to do so...

The risk is not worth the reward ! I don't know what GYM was thinking when they decided to put fights for Lemieux so near to each other without securing opponents ahead of time...

The end result is getting guys ready to fight for a a few hundred bucks and a ***** to help forget the beating..

Bottom line, Lemieux has a WBC eliminator fight lined up in Spring 2011, and then it's for the belt later in the year !!
