Mayorga's a trashtalking punk who is living off his victories over Forrest. He's pure "style" over substance(if you want to call his method "style")that got exposed every time.Every other time he fought a world class fighter,he got his ass handed to him. That simple.

Where I've been, he can't even put his ass on. Whenever he wants to, I' ll go to Puerto Rico and beat him, I can fight him and take his title, did you saw the "champ" he faced?, a man who finishes the fight going down by himself. I can fight him for free, I can spare a few rounds with him, Don King can give my purse to him, because I only want the title and, Don will not pay me that much for fighting an insignificant fighter in Cotto. Only his sons respect him.

    Ricardo Mayorga, who else.

Peak Mayorga, I would pick to beat a peak Cotto, at 147.

But I think on average, meaning, Mayorga isnt peak, but hes not shot, and Cotto isnt peak, but hes not shot.... I would pick Cotto to outbox Mayorga.

NOW? With Mayorga being for all intents and purposes shot, rusty, coming off a devastating KO loss? I think Cotto outboxes him to a UD.

However, if you wanted to bring in someone who would be an even bigger nightmare for Cotto then Margarito would be, or at least as bad, look no further then a peak Mayorga. I have no doubt that prime for prime, Cotto could not hang with him over 12. He might win the first 3 or 4 rounds or so, but Mayorgas quickness, relentless assaults, one punch stunners and 12 round stamina in his prime, along with his strength and chin, would see Cotto trying to fight off the back foot by round 6 and in full retreat by round 9. I dont think Cotto would get as busted up because I dont think Mayorga would land as many shots as Margarito did, but his shots would wobble and hurt Cotto a lot worse. I think it would actually look a lot like the Cotto vs Torres fight, but with Mayorga being bigger, a bit slower, but more powerful with a better chin then Torres.... going up against a better version of Cotto then the one Torres fought, but I dont think Cotto gets the W in this one.

NOW? I think Cottos overwhelming skillset compared to Mayorga, along with him still being fairly quick, with a strong jab and decent power, would prove to be too much for todays Mayorga, who has found most of the attributes he needs to have in order to be successful on the world stage eroded to the point where I dont think Mayorga will ever again be effective aginst an elite level fighter.

That being said, both these fighters have proved me wrong before.....

To be honest though, not a fight I want to see. The last thing Id want is to see Cotto have to go through a press con tour with Mayorga, I dont want to see a quiet, more or less classy fighter like Cotto have to put up with Mayorgas antics.

    Mayorga vs Kirkland
    Mayorga vs Angulo
    Mayorga vs Margarito
    Mayorga vs K9
    Mayorga vs Cintron

all would be much more interesting to me.

And this should not be overlooked. :good

    Though, lets be real.

What has Shane Mosley done to deserve a shot at the pound for pound king? (two years since last win) What did Margarito do to deserve that fight?(two years since last meaningful win) What did Harrison do to get his shot? What did Ruiz do to get his shot? (both against Haye) What did Green do to get his place in the Super Six?

The list is practically never ending of just recent examples of how the 'done nothing to deserve that chance' are pushed through despite all semblence of right and wrong, boxing is constantly raped and perveted to suit the economic agenda.

If this fight would happen, it would in a lot of ways be status quo of recent boxing.

However, it would still be wrong, would be adding even more crap to the pile, and should not happen.

Seriously cut the ****. This claim has no substance. He was caught with a right hand by Foreman and immediately went on the offensive to answer. He was not hurt at any point in that fight, not even stunned. This is almost as bad as saying Marquez was knocked down 6 times against Pacquiao :patsch

Prime Mayorga will **** up Prime Cotto. It took a big 154 De La Hoya and 160 Trinidad and more than 5 rounds to KO this crazy wildman from Nicaragua

It also took 12 rounds in a tough grueling fight with Sugar Shane before getting KO'd in the final 10 sec of 12th round. Mayorga is no joke

Obviously Cotto has the better boxing skills but if Cotto slug it out with Mayorga, Cotto will get his ass KTFO

Haha I guess using the ropes as a chair isn't a knockdown these days.

Why not? Mayorga is a true fighter from the streets that would rather go out on his shield than running around and backing up almost the entire time

Plus Mayorga's press conferences alone is worth it. This BAMF is so exciting.

Mayorga vs Cotto is going to be exciting! :bbb
