How is it possible for two fighters, from the same place (UK), fighting in or around the same weight class their whole careers, seperated by just under 3 years in age...NEVER HAVE A FIGHT???

Why did this fight Never Happen? And will we see something like this again...fighters from the same area, same weight, near the same age and same elite-level status...that have never fought each other in their careers. Still Hoping Rios and Ortiz gets it on in 2011.

Hatton ducked him, too much risk for too little reward. Witter would have murdered him with the southpaw right hook

If I remember rightly, this bout could probably have only been made on 1 or 2 occasions. 1 of those occasions was after Mayweather beat Hatton, and Witter lost to Bradley. Late 2008 would have been perfect for this match-up.

Witter was a nobody who made a name off Hatton bashing. Wasn't a bad fighter really, but by the time he reached a point to put something on the table - around the Harris win - Hatton was already signed for the Mayweather fight - and his way down. And Witter losing to then-nobody Bradley killed any chance of this coming off in 2008, so Junior rose too late and crashed too early, it's entirely his fault.

Also, anyone who seriously think Witter stood a chance vs. the Hatton that took Tszyu's best to beat him down is insane and/or simply a hater.

Because Witter was seriously lame and didn't belong in the same ring as Hatton.

Because Ricky always had bigger fish to fry when Witter was a credible opponent and Witter couldn't fill a 2000 seat arena... Hatton hated him and didn't want to give him a big pay day

because peak for peak Witter would have stopped him

Witter had a lot of flaws but at his best his handspeed was mental and his power chilling.

All this Hatton talk of bargaining chips etc is all balls Ricky knew Witter was all wrong for him

Witter and Tszyu are so different one couldnt pass a bowl of soup to the other without spilling it.

Kostya could bang but he was straight lines , Ricky could see them coming and on that night you would have had to hit with a truck to stop him , he wanted it that badly , punches you dont see are a totally different thing.

Fast southpaw with power is Rickys worst nightmare

Love how everyone from the US automatically says Ricky ducked Witter!! Witter was no where near Rickys standard when he was constantly calling him out. Also Hatton was a national treasure back then and Witter is just a gobby idiot that the average boxing fan hadnt heard of.The British public wouldnt have taken to witter so i cant see PPV sales being as big as a fight with Castillo,Tszyu or Collazo.

All that switch hitting would have counted for nothing when Ricky closed off the ring and mauled the complete fool!! Ricky had an excellent chin back then lets not forget he wasnt always the bum that Pacman Knocked out.

because even now, junior witter makes **** money and the only reason hatton would have fought him would be a grudge match. why would hatton wanna fight witter and make **** money when he could fight castillo, collazo, mayweather and pacquiao?

That's fantasy. When Alexander started to put the hurt on him, Witter quit. He could give but couldn't take, and that'd bad news vs. Hatton, who BTW showed nice head movement back in his day and had more than enough pressure skills to cut the distance off Witter's power. He could also make it ugly on the inside where Junior had no game whatsoever. Pressure fighters are underrated ever since Roy Jones appeared on scene putting the misconception in our minds that athleticism and reflexes are everything. 'Pressure fighter' sounds like a degradation today, or something inferior to someone with better natural gifts, which is laugable considering Hatton had a lot more skills than Witter, and their achievements speak volumes on the subject.
