i really cant stand larry merchant i just watched jones hopkins 1 when jones is schooling hopkins in the 10th round lampley compares if him with leonard and the hater merchane says "hes no ray leonard" merchants always disrespecting legends like jones hopkins mayweather ive even seen him try to talk **** to george foreman **** larry merchant
while I agree that he goes overboard with his hate sometimes, noone knew at the time that Hopkins was as good as he was. Also, Roy is no Ray Leonard, though he was close to it.
in primes i think roy was even with leonard or better but its the point that merchant always has to hate on everything meanwhile pacquaios beating everyone at catchweights but he has nothing to say about that but if floyd or hopkins did it hed blast them in interviews
Larry speaks his mind, and that always pisses someone off. Especially offended would be fans who may have an obsessive love for Larrys verbal victims. Don't always agree with Merchant but I respect his knowledge and experience. His drunken, slurred obsevations are light years more enlightening than Kellermans wide eyed, spastic rants. Looks like HBO is slowly ushering Larry into retirement , but good things don't last forever. Before he goes away forever, I hope that Larry continues to be critical and honest, further angering all the testicle kissers whose heros are illuminated by Larrys harsh light.
