The money Berto is getting compared to Katsidis is absolutely criminal.

  3. Berto is defending his title.

Which means nothing. I agree with Finchy that's a complete joke that Berto gets almost double what Kats gets.

Berto can't draw flies to ****.I don't get it either. The day HBO fires Kerry Davis's ass will be the return to sanity for HBO Boxing. He is a one man wrecking crew.:deal

  6. He's still defending a world title whilst Kats is only challenging for one.

That 'world' title isn't the main reason he's getting so much money though. It's because for some bizarre reason HBO thought it'd be a good idea to give Berto a multimillion dollar contract before he'd even done anything of note, just in the hope that he'd turn out to be their next US Superstar. As you can tell by him fighting Freddy Hernandez tomorrow, it hasn't happened yet anyway.

Firstly, I presume those purses include the HBO tv money, otherwise the following rant will look a bit silly.

Katsidis is already the fabled 'interim champ', which surely deserves at least slightly more than a third of what Marquez is getting-but that is debatable.

HBO supposedly don't give a **** about titles. A belt is rarely referred to by its official name, and before each fight we get a 5 minute lecture from kellermann about the belts.

And probably most importantly, it is an undercard fight.

$380k is a big difference between the two.

  10. I genuinely not that arsed either way.

They're both getting very well paid. Best of luck to them.

The money Berto's getting compared to Marquez is shocking too! He's $500,000 less than the Mexican but hasn't fought anyone of consequence. He's one of the poorest title-holders out there right now.

Unfortuneatly, "deserves" rarely comes in to boxing purses.

HBO made a mistake with Berto, they were panicking to find another star and they plumped for him and Dawson. Chad has all the skills to be something special and hopefully will let his hands go because when he does he's something else. Berto on the other hand isn't anything special and will sooner or later be exposed for what he is. A flat track bully.

HBO probably know that he's not got what they first hoped but sometimes when you make a mistake you try to kid yourself it will get better.

The money is a disgrace but it's boxing, sometimes the good guy doesn't get what he deserves.

I've said all along with Berto Mand, HBO want a personable, clean cut star. They tried Jermaine Taylor and now they are doing the same thing with Berto.

It doesn't matter what title you have, what you've accomplished... it's about how marketable you are. So it's not really a joke that Berto gets more than Kat
