One of the reasons yes, but also not learning enough while he was an amatuer, he had some bad habits and because he fought with them for so long they became ingrained and hard to correct.

He did moar by throwing a higher number of punches, and he still lost.

Those top guys became top guys because they beat DLH. They were all elevated from that. For some as in Mosley and Tito its their absolute biggest win. What does that say about DLH? -Especially since the Tito and Mosley 2 fights were robberies...?

Look at the folks that beat Oscar, take Oscar's name out of their resume slot, suddenly they seem quite average.

The people that beat DLH stand out from the people that lost because they beat him. Many of those Oscar beat were stars just as big as the ones he lost to at the time of those fights. It's just Oscar was such a star beating him you became a star. This holds true all the way to Pac.

The majority of Oscar's work did miss, it only takes one blow to cause that small little superficial mark on Floyd's face.

Clottey barley threw any punches but he still messed up Manny's face. Damage is a stupid way to judge a fight.

That too could come down to the fact he wasn't with the right trainer (though Alcazar was extremely loyal to Oscar.) I also wouldn't expect him to be a totally complete fighter by the times he came out of the amateur ranks as I wouldn't really expect any fighter, he had a style that saw him become perhaps the best amateur since Pernell? (that is an assumption not an opinion of mine as I haven't seen tons of Pete as an amateur ) Floyd Mayweather for instance seemed to become the total package once he got rid of Floyd Sr. and teamed up with the Black Mamba, not a total package coming from the amateur ranks to the professional ranks. At least thats what I've learned from the career set of his I currently possess.
