:good Lewis is right. And good to see a Champion who has a life after his career. He seems to be very relaxed. I hope Wlad will do the same, retire at the top and never come back. Lewis is very smart and intelligent and he knows alot of boxing. Nice to see he is close with his family and interested in a alot of things.
Not sure what you're inferring about the style, Lewis managed to over come it and get the TKO win..what more would you have liked him to have done..he won the fight!!! So in a rematch I imagine he'd likely find away to win again, especially after having a first hand feeling out of how to over come that style.
It baffles me that this is such a hard concept to grasp. I've been watching boxing for about 40 years and I've never recalled so many fans of one particular fighter having trouble accepting the official result. In fact in the scheme of things it wasn't all that contriversial. I've seen some poor decision that are far more contriversial than this fight was.
The reason is obvious: he did not believe he could win. "Nothing left to prove" is bs. Nobody in the division besides Klitschkos was a threat to him. If he was going to easily "win" the rematch he could have easily continued fighting for a few more years. Instead, he traded all that plus a huge payday for "glorious" boxing commentator career which he was never good at anyway. The rematch was negotiated and set to happen in Dec '03 but Lewis changed his mind. Face it: Vitali was the reason Lewis-the-boxing-champ became Lewis-mediocre-pundit.
It's not the point of who beat who. It's the fact that Lewis denied Klitschko a rematch that Vitali earned. I'd have more respect for Lewis if he fought the rematch win or ****ing lose!
Lewis won the fight. But not comfortably. On both occasions where Lewis lost, his victor gave him a rematch. He did not accord Klitschko the same privelige, even though both his losses were more decisive. With the amount of loot at stake in a potential rematch, and the clear desire of fans to see it, it's hard to see Lewis turning down the rematch if he was confidant of another victory. At the very least, he had clear doubts as to the outcome of a second bout. And he could hardly continue boxing without rematching his 'close shave.' That said, I think Lennox made the correct decision.
Lewis constantly claims that he took the fight on short notice! Vitali took the fight on short notice and you don't hear anything about it, now do you.......Vitali staggered Lewis more than once. Lewis had to hold on to Vitali to keep from going down, they he flopped down on his stool completely out of gas. Max Kellerman was sitting right behind his corner. At that time Max was a well known Klitschko hater, but after that fight he became a fan. Lewis was done for and would have been knocked out in the very next round! So, Lewis' promoter signaled Lewis' doctor to signal Lewis' referee to stop the fight, and did so without even looking at the cut! Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the title that night. Vitali should have been given one more round, that's all he needed and Lewis knows it. Lewis did not like his badly broken nose that night. Why didn't they stop the fight because of Lewis' broken nose?! Lewis refused huge amounts of money for a rematch and retired that night because of getting his arse kicked! Lewis won't admit it either, he was afraid. Lewis should get back into a ring and let's settle it once and for all!

Emanuel steward has told us many times in camp that he BEGGED Lenox to keep his word and give vitali a rematch but Lenox wanted "no part of it" Emanuel has stated to us that "vitali was the only fighter to make Lenox feel uneasy" I just think the it was to much risk and to little reward for lenox.... IMO he wasnt sure he would win... so why take the risk OH well. Time we all moved on from it
