Say what you like but Pavlik ducked Abraham and thought he'd have an easy fight with Hopkins but it back fired and Hopkins ruined him, turning him into an alcoholic in the process. That was nobody's fault but Pavlik's imo because everytime he stepped into that ring he should be prepared for defeat only here it backfired and bit him on the ass big time.

Pavlik could have thought Abraham and lost with a degree of pride to the best in the division but instead made excuse after excuse and went after easier options. Instead his team thought he'd pull a fast one and fight Hopkins who they thought they'd beat because Taylor beat him. What annoys me is they didn't even consider the stylistic aspect in that just the Danny Green adage of "you beat a legend you become a legend" which is sad because it shows how little Jack Leow actually knows about boxing.

Pavlik's problem isn't drug (alcohol) addiction it's mental. Alcohol is his crutch to cope with his mental issues regarding the Hopkins loss. It's his way of forgetting the embarassing loss but that was his fault he tried to pull the wool over our eyes and claim to be the MW king only it backfired and now the fans he tried to trick know better and this is where his shame come from.

P.S. I don't believe in kicking a guy when he's down but Kelly has been 'down' since the Hopkins fight. He's got millions, a beautiful wife, a great kid so I'm not going to feel sorry for him so am just laying it down as I see it.

I think Kelly let himself go after getting to the top. Had he stayed focused, he wouldn't have fallen like that. Another young guy not able to deal with success.

Should be just receiving wishes of recovery now.

What did he do that was THAT bad in your eyes? Postponing the fight with Abraham? All in all a very decent, ballsy fighter. You'll find boxers with more solid reasons to hate on.

Sigmund Freud over here! Your post is beyond arrogant. Seriously, your complete speculation on what is going on in his head like is stated like it's fact. You probably never even met Pavlik, less to mind know him or live in his head. :patsch

Abraham demanded a $2 million dollar GUARANTEE! No one ever seems to notice how ludicrous that demand was.

I dont think he ducked Abraham, why would he?At the time you would have said the second Jermain fight was a bigger risk.I dont blame him for fighting Bernard, you are only around so long in boxing so you have to make the money while you can.I dont think for a minute Kelly was frightened to fight AA it just made more sense to fight Hopkins then come back for that fight later. It just did not go to plan.

i like Pavlik i really do but i believe his issues are related to confidence, he needs to know that just because a certain style frustrates him it doesn't mean he cant smash on other styles. I can see Pavlik still grabbing some big wins later in his career after he sorts out his demons.

also theres no doubt in my mind that if Abraham didnt move up in weight as soon as he did we would have seen Pav-Abraham by now most likely instead of Pav-Williams/Martinez

I'm a recovered alky with many years of sobriety behind me. I know a lot about alcoholism. A real alcoholic has issues with metobolism and brain chemistry. If KP is alcoholic now, he was alcoholic before he ever took a drink.
