Ricky Hatton vs Junior Witter

Picking one "iffy" performance in a winning fight isn't a solid way to judge a career, esp. when that career has much more impressive wins to look at.

 

Especially when Witter had several of them himself......

Silly comment. Hatton virtually shut out Lazcano. Witter struggled like that with just about every world level opponent he ever fought (ok Harris excepted) plus Colin Lynes as well. We can all pick one less than Stella fight but to really draw a conclusio you have to look at the bigger picture.

Course it wasnt. Thats why he stopped Harris right? And also dropped and hurt badly twice the iron chinned Lovemore N'Dou?
Witter was a much bigger concussive puncher than Hatton and you know it.

 

Interesting notion. Seems you have more confidence in Hattons ability that he had in himself. He ducked Witter for a decade. Doesnt sound like a fighter who was comfortable with the match up at all despite saying he wanted it when he clearly didnt.

 

Witter probally was a bigger one shot puncher than Hatton on the one or two times a round he'd throw the power shots but Hatton never gets talked about as this big hitter a world level whereas Witter does for some reason. Hatton was workrate and pressure.

So Junior stopped an old Harris and hurt N'Dou? The fact thats the extent of the evidence of Witters power at world class says it all really.

 

A decade? The fight didn't happen in 2003-2005 and thats a shame, after 2005 Hatton was moving in different circles to Witter. No one, outside the haters on here, gave much of a **** about that fight post Zoo.

 

To be fair as someone pointed out the list of world class guys Witter fought that have never been KO'd or are extremely difficult to KO is quite long. Maidana couldn't stop Corley and he's well past it, N'dou is granite chinned even at 147. Kotelnik again, is genuinely granite chinned, him and Lovemore have 2 of the best chins in boxing. Alexander and Bradley have never been stopped and more to the point Witter didn't actually land a lot or get anything going in those fights, they are trickier to land on than either Hatton.

He should have stopped Lynes though, that was pathetic.

 

I think a prime Hatton would have got a win.Probably by UD.Witter would have been right in the fight for the first 5 rounds but Hatton in his prime would just keep walking him down throwing a ton of shots.Witter has never had the punch to deter a fighter like Hatton and would end up seeing out the last 6 rounds totaly on the back foot the last 3 would be pure survival mode.

 

Did n't Corely get stopped the fight right after Witter?:huh

 

Oh its an old Harris now? The same Old Harris that was stopped only once before by Maussa? How about Hatton's dodging of N'Dou despite N'Dou openly cavassing for the fight. Workrate pressure bla bla bla. Yeah looks great when he's taking on WBU tin cans.

 

Your memorys slipping nucca. Witter was a world champ. So was Hatton at the same time. Hatton said Witter had to become a world champ if he was going to entertain the fight. Witter kept his side of bargain. Hatton didnt. And thus we were denied this decades equivalent of Been Eubank because Witter called Hatton names
