OK... so whose going to be the first jackweed to say it was a bad stoppage?

First off i want to say im a huge marquez fan but huge props to katsidis he gave marquea good fight for 8 rounds and should not be ashamed to have lost to marquez

Now did i think it was to early...no and here is why..katsidis was putting on good pressure but marquez just kept the heat up.i landing way more then kats..on the 9th kats got hit by that uppercut and it seemed like he just quit after that. Getting away from marquez putting his hands down the ko would of happend either way..marquez was knocked down but came back up to continue boxing and showed he could keep goin as where katsidis was just stopped and then was just trying to stay alive..again great fight kats hope a speedy recovery and congrats marquez

Some hilarious and true posts in this thread

Nice to see some good threads again where it doesn't turn into a Pac fan vs Floyd fan cry-fest :good

Terrible stoppage. The Austrian fighter has been in that position before taking heavy shots from some Filipino fighter years ago but did that fight get stopped? No it didn't and he went on to win the fight. Are we going to stop every fight whenever someone takes 20 unanswered punches? If so then Benn was given a huge gift against Mclellan because that fight should of been stopped in the first round.Brain damage is only done when the fighter is down, Katsidas wasnt and he looked ok to me in the interview. Katsidas was just beginning to get angry, he had a purpose tonight and that was to fight for the honor of his brother, but Ken took it away from him. For shame.

I see what you're saying. It's more important for us boxing fans to be entertained than to worry about the safety of the fighters. As long as we boxing fans aren't in danger of brain damage or Parkinson's it's worth watching a helpless fighter get his head caved in. Don't you miss the old days? I remember back then when racism was realy cool too.

Bayless did a fine job in this fight. Katsidis gave his all in a thrilling fight/ But, Katsidis was done you could tell. I thought he could have stopped it even earlier in that rd.
    Good call on the stoppage.

As I read you post I was like "This guy can't be serious!". But then by the end of your post I realized you weren't and were just playing. Thank God.

Not the best attempt at humour though.

the wife asked before the fight who the best ref was in the world...i spouted off my favourite ref Kenny "Intensity" Bayless. I didn't realize he was reffing last night and his brilliant job made me look good (basically I picked the only ref i could think of at the moment).

he was awesome, one of the best stoppages i've ever seen

If that is how fights are supposed to be stopped you wouldn't be "watching Gatti Ward 1" now...

Exactly!!! And all these wimpy boxing fans and the squeamish refs they applaud would deprive us of this, and many other great fights. WTF!! You don't like violence or true brutal combat, go watch tennis. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people? Don't they LIKE this sport?

Where the hell did these sorts of "boxing fans" come from?? In my day, most boxing fans were real men and they liked to see fights go to their natural conclusion. And when they were deprived of action they paid to see by gunshy refs, they rightfully bitched about it.

  11. It was one of those unsatisfying stoppages because he didn't go down, but you could tell he was really hurt and had no legs left. It was inevitable. Good stoppage 100%.

    It was premature...:hi:

  13. The problem with that mentality is that people die or are permanently injured and can't function properly in every day life, let alone fight again. Although I love to see fights end naturally, as you say, I would hate to see Katsidis rendered ******ed from an unnecessary beating. I'm no less of a man for wanting Katsidis (or any fighter) to lead a normal productive life after his boxing career.

All well and good, and I'm not for having completely defenseless fighters beaten to a senseless pulp, but there has to be some reasonableness to it. If a fighter is punching back - as Katsidis was - then he should be allowed to continue until he is either a) rendered so defenseless as his hands fall to his side; or, b) he hits the canvas.

If he hits the canvas, he should be allowed to get up and see if he can stand and can continue to fight. In the old days, they tolled the whole ten count too - I'm in favor of that. I'm sorry if you don't agree, but this is a very disturbing trend that, imo, is pussifying what was once a fine sport. And that fans applaud it is, imo, even more disturbing.

Some posters really wanted Katsidis to get reunited with his brother:-(
