agree. I think JC his boxing brain and variation be too much for cobra in 12 rounds UD for Calzaghe. froch for me doesn't have the boxing adaptability of Calzaghe,Hopkins to change tactics in a fight to turn it around to their advantage.

It was a shame JC had brittle hands as in his earlier days he was a puncher. As he got older he had to protect his hands and didnt punch as hard.

You cant have arguably won. he lost and i cant understand why people cant accept that. Calzaghe comfortably beat an unbeaten injury free kessler who then gave froch fits with 2 losses and a ****ed eye and still beat froch.

people need to remember that fighters change after losses. most for the bad although some come back stronger. Joe Calzaghe was an underdog at 2/1 before he fought lacy. Lacy was hyped by americans as p4p material and Calzaghe whiped the floor with him. People talk about Calzaghes win over lacy by stating what Lacy done after this fight. Calzaghe ruined him.

Nice revisionist history. Calzaghe became champion when RJJ was already in a different weight division up. And when Calzaghe got name recognition, their careers went different paths at that point. Only after RJJ gave people hope by beating down Tito that he could beat Calzaghe, especially after Hopkins made Calzaghe look like **** even in winning (BHOP made Lineal MW champion Pavlik look like trash weeks earlier the RJJ-Calz) was the fight even made because RJJ-Tito made lotsa cash.

Froch has NOT beaten a legitimate SMW champion in his prime. The former champion he faced, he got beat. And that former SMW champion was a shell of himself that Calzaghe decisively pounded around 2-3 years ago.

Heck, Taylor that Froch beat was beaten handily by Pavlik twice by KTFO (never the same again), the same Pavlik that Hopkins beat to crap.

And in that fight, Taylor was owning Froch until KTFO.

How on earth do you come to that conclussion :huh. Taylor had been KOd previously and lost on points at SMW to Pavlik. After Froch beat Taylor, Taylor got KOd again in the very next fight, whilst Calzaghe beat Kessler an undefeated fighter, with many more wins and overall against better opposition, and Kessler was a WBC & WBA champ who after losing to Calzaghe won both those titles again.

Calzaghes resume has Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell, Lacy, Kessler, Jones, Hopkins and not forgetting that other fighters like Veit & Mkertchyan have achieved more than say Dirrell. Also Calzaghe has the rest of his resume to mention in Sheika, Starie, Manfredo, Bika.
46-0 21 defences WBO WBC WBA IBF Ring SMW titles and Ring LHW title.

i think the fact that froch has boxed five (ranked) world class opponents speaks more than the victories. Calzaghe never fought two tough fights in a row.

Very much like Marquez arguably beat Manny, Froch arguably beat one of my favorite fighters in Kessler.

I can't deny it, that fight was close and could've gone either way, I personally thought Kessler nicked it, but for an away fight Froch surely made himself proud.

If he somehow manages to beat Son of Ottke and win the super 6 then it's game set and match Froch.

Bika (3 years later gave American hope Ward a close fight every round even if the scoring doesn't show it) -> Kessler (3 years later beat Froch in a close fight even after suffering from inactivity and eye problems) -> Hopkins (beat the crap down of Pavlik after Calzaghe beat him)

And a lot of Calzaghe's opponents during his early and middle championship were world class opponents. IIRC even Mger was part of the Ring Magazine rankings. You guys just never heard of them.

Do you know why? Because Calzaghe put SMW on the map and that's why you guys now know who's who and what's what.

    Exactly :good
Alot of these guys dont realise fighters like Mkertchyan and Veit have done more at SMW than a highly hyped fighter like Dirrell
