I read a lot of posts comparing the two fighters. Froch's impressive victory against former middleweight king, Arthur Abraham, put him one step closer to Joe Calzaghe's place in the all time greatest list, according to many of his fans. On the contrary, the Calzaghe fanbase belittle the accomplishments of Frosch stating the fact that Calzaghe ruled a division for more than a decade. Well, I did some homework and instead of giving you my honest opinion, I would like to give you the facts: At 33 years old... Froch - has a 27-1 record - has won the WBC crown at super middleweight - has defended the WBC crown succesfully twice Calzaghe - had a 40-0 record - had won the WBO crown at super middleweight - had defended the WBO crown succesfully 17 times In their last six fights Froch has faced - Arthur Abraham, 30 years old w/ 31-1 record - Mikkel Kessler, 31 years old w/ 42-2 record - Andre Dirrel, 26 years old w/ 18-0 record - Jermain Taylor, 31 years old w/ 28-2 record - Jean Pascal, 26 years old w/ 21-0 record (American Debut) - Albert Rybacki, 38 years old w/ 15-0 record Calzaghe faced - Roy Jones Jr., 39 years old w/ 52-4 record - Bernard Hopkins, 43 years old, w/ 48-4 record - Mikkel Kessler, 29 years old w/ 39-0 record - Peter Manfredo Jr., 27 years old w/ 26-3 record - Sakio Bika, 27 years old w/ 20-1-2 record - Jeff Lacy, 29 years old w/ 21-0 record (American Debut) Froch is still active and can add to his resume while Calzaghe is inactive.
Yes, but he did that in a later stage of his career...I was comparing the Calzaghe of 33 years old vs. the Froch of 33 years old. Comparing them anytime after that is like comparing apples to oranges.
and the WBA and WBC vs Kessler. He also won the ring title at LHW. 40-0? 17 defenses? I thought these were supposed to be facts?
Of course Calzaghe. He takes a lot of flak for his resume, much of it deserved, but he still would have to be placed higher on the rankings list. Now, if you ask me who was the bigger risk taker, has the far better resume thru 28 pro fights, and makes and takes all challenges........different story. If Froch were to go on and beat Ward and/or Bute, avenge his loss vs Kessler... that would go a long way toward making up ground on Calzaghe.
Froch's recent body of work exceeds any three year period of Calslappy's career. Froch has the stones to face the best on an international scale; the one hole in Slappy's legacy.
Calz wasted his prime fighting cans. Never fought anybody great. Neither of them belong anywhere near an all time great list. because neither of them are all time greats.
Your right Froch can add to his resume, but you also didnt note that at after 33, Calzaghe won the Ring, IBF, WBC & WBA SMW titles and The Ring LHW title. Think you missed some of the facts
