So does it really matter what weight the fight is contracted at considering that both are similiar in size naturally and will weigh just a few pounds from each other on fight night no matter what the contracted weight is at?

the size between the two is not much different so marquez has no worry even if this fight takes place at 140, 143, 147 or 150. it's not like the case of floyd where the guy will be outweighing him by 8+ pounds on fight night.

If you put it that way no. But in another way Yes it does because this whole thing isnt predicated on what JMM weigh at. Its a question of how much lbs Pac will have to cut.

Just make it @ 140lbs & leave it at that.
They both have to sacrifice & everyone is happy.
(Personal tho, I say **** this fight)

    Juan go after Bradley/Alexander winner.

I mean any fight at 144 or 147, both guys will pretty much weigh close to their ring weight. The point is, no matter how many bigger men Pacman has dominated, these two guys are similiar in size naturally. If the fight is at 140, Pacman will have to lose a few lbs. No big deal. And maybe, Pacman being the man calling the shots, he wouldn't want to do it. But can you really blame him if he doesn't want too? And in the end, does it really matter?

I agree in theory the weight prob don't matter as much... But exactly what you said that I put in bold is the problem.

People will complain, especially when you have Pac on 24/7 saying on camera its hard for him to maintain his weight. (keeping it on)

Yup, and the perception that because Pacman beat much bigger men, he is a considerably bigger guy than Marquez (which isn't true).

So yeah, even though it doesn't really matter, i think boxing fans will give this fight more credibility if it was at 140 instead of 144 or 147.

Marquez should agree to the contracted weight and just come in lighter , it makes sense for Marquez to do that

Still gonna be a massacre though

This should be easy negotiations if it weren't for the Top Rank-GBP feud.

Both promotions haven't co-promoted an event since Pac-Hatton, right?

If they both were chasing and needed eachother than the fight would be good at 140. At this moment Marquez is the one chasing Pac so the fight will be at whatever weight Pac say it is. When Pac say 147 it doesn't mean he's going to be coming in heavy, it just mean that he wants it at a weight where he'll be comfortable training and not worrying about weight.

This would be an easy fight to make if only Pac wasn't ducking Marquez.

floyd was not the same size as jmm. and floyd also did not made the agreed upon catchweight.

  14. * ***** slap *

Are you actually suggesting that Pac took on easier, less dangerous fights in Cotto, Clottey, and Margarito?

Marquez went life and death with a one-dimensional, still-developing Pac and got dropped 4X in the process.

You think Marquez is gonna suddenly KO Pac in Pac's BEST weight class?

    Holy ****! You. Are. STUPID.

So what you mean is it wasn't acceptable for Mayweather to fight Marquez at welterweight but it's acceptable for Pacquiao?

You even said here Mayweather was cherrypicking Marquez but I take it you don't think Pacquiao would be?

Like I said earlier the Pac fans on here have dug a hole for themselves with all of the criticism they gave Mayweather over fighting Marquez at welterweight, they are crawling around now trying to find reasons to justify Pac doing the same.

    Pathetic.
