David Haye vs. 1987 Tony Tucker, who wins this fight?

I agree with this, except I don't think Lewis gets destroyed by post-prison Tyson. Tyson lost alot by being inactive over four years. His timing, balance, etc. were affected by the long layoff.

 

Tucker. Not a good matchup for Haye as he's in there against someone that can negate his speed advantage, is durable, and can crack. Haye isn't going to stop or even hurt Tucker (Tyson couldn't and even a faded Tucker went 12 with Lewis) so he's going to have to outpoint Tucker.

Tucker lands an uppercut at some point, hurts Haye, and finishes him off.

 

Tucker put up a decent fight vs. Mike Tyson but what else did he do? He was the IBF HW Champ for a couple of months in 1987. He stopped Buster Douglas in the 10th round to win the vacant title (stripped from Michael Spinks)... the fight was even after 9 rounds.

We won split-decisions vs. Orlin Norris '91 and Oliver McCall '92. He also lost to Norris by SD in '96.

He was dropped twice by Lennox Lewis but did last the distance, L12 in '93. He was stopped in 7 by Bruce Seldon in '95. He was also stopped by Herbie Hide KO2 in '97 and John Ruiz KO11 in '98.

His wins over an old Jimmy Young W10 or a never was James Broad W12 don't really tell me much.

I'd have to favor Haye.

 

If his wins over Young and Broad don't tell much than how do his losses to Ruiz and Hide tell much?

Tucker would probably win by late round stoppage over Haye, and then celebrate with his Ready For The World crew.

 

As crazy as it may sound, Tucker's wins over Norris, McCall and Douglas along with going 12 rounds with a peak Tyson, were better than anything Haye as shown at heavy weight. Hell, I don't think that he's beaten a single opponent under the age of 36, nor one who's done anything in years. The Hide, Seldon, Ruiz and Lewis defeats came between the ages of 35-40, which is hardly a 1987 version of Tucker.

Lets see what Haye does against Wlad... But from what ive seen so far ... I think Haye would win the early rounds, but Tucker had a pretty good chin and would take Hayes shots well.,,,, Even a prime Tucker had the habit of snoozing but by the mid rounds he starts walking down Haye..

Even a past the past it Tucker that fought Lewis would be a live underdog vs Haye and mgiht catch him late.

Haye has alot of natural talent but the jury is still out on him.... As of right now id pick alot of Hws from the 80s and 90s to beat him.

 

Tucker pre-1988 would just shut Haye down, despite his underachieving ways.Probably a sixth or seventh round TKO, or KO.
