I don't buy Lennox not wanting to fight Vitali because he thought he Vitali is nice guy. Lennox had a big ego and craved the spotlight, so thats bull. I i just don't think Lennox thought he could beat Vitali at that point in his career.
Lewis was trying to Sue Tyson into a rematch and maneuver around a Vitali Rematch. When the WBC made Vitali the mandatory and told Lewis he would be stripped if he didnt fight Vitali he retired. end of story. Whats so hard to understand that Lewis CLEARLY wanted no part of Vitali again. he won the first fight on a cut, is the win legitimate? of course. But Vitali was leading on the cards in a fight he was winning and lost to a intangible he couldnt control, that alone calls for a rematch.

This is simply wrong. When a fighter sustained the type of cut that Vitali did, the chances of it repeating again are quite high, because it never really heals properly and leaves scar tissue. And if they ever did have a rematch and the cut opened you could bet your house that Lewis would target the hell out of that spot. And if nothing else, the first fight proved that Lewis had the ability to cut Vitali, because Vitali had at least 3 bad cuts at the time of the stoppage, not just one and in fact he was swallowing blood as a result of the severe cut on his lip. So this idea that Vitali only had one cut on him and it was due to a lucky shot is a simply a myth. Vitali looked like he'd been hit by a bus at that time of the stoppage. So if that was one lucky punch that caused all that damage it was one hell of a punch.
i disagree, Vitali hasn't had a cut before or after nowhere near as worse then that fight. the type of cut prone scar tissue your talking about is instilled after repeated damage, Izzy Vazquez is a good example of this and Vitali is like 2 or 3 Lewis type fight cuts away from that damage. Plus scar tissue can be corrected its only when you get like Izzy or Nick Diaz (MMA fighter) when its past the point of fixing. The chances of Lewis opening a cut again half as bad are slim IMO. plus i'm sure Vitali would have been aware of that possibility and fought accordingly.
