I just watched the fight. Good lord. I don't know what you guys who are championing Froch as an underrated technician are seeing but it is not the truth. He is down right **** house. His combination punching is pitiful. His jab would be absolutely abused by anyone who was remotely interested in countering him. As would his straight right hand. He has no foot work, nor defense and corpses move their heads more than he does. He appears to have a dynamite chin, and I appreciate his heart. But Ward will molest him if they meet, I'm telling you right now, he will make Froch look a clown. Or at the very least, the D class fighter that he is. I don't know how much Johnson has left and it is easy to look good against a complete ***** like Allan Green so I won't say Johnson will beat him, but mark my words, Ward will make him look silly. I honestly think that I could beat him over 6 rounds. I truly, truly weep for those of you who think that he is a great boxer with underrated skills. Truly. As do the ghosts of Ray Robinson, Joe Gans, Benny Leonard, et al.
No-ones saying he's a great boxer, but he did have underrated skills. D-rated, shithouse, crap jab????? Go away, watch his fights again and come back with a genuine analysis not tinted with bias.
Even if I did, what would one thing have to do with the other? If you're going to comment, and clearly disagree with me, then why not argue your case? What does Froch do at an elite - hell, COMPETENT level?
There must be someone educated in the history of the sport like TommyV or Addie who can agree with me that Froch is the poster child for the massive decline in boxing skills, (and the mis-perception that this level of skill is elite) over the past 50+ years.
Very good ring generalship. Applies effective pressure. Fantastic jab. Good combination punching. Underrated speed. Fantastic right uppercut, either leading with it or following up in combination. Heart, chin and mentality of a warrior. Credit to boxing for his willingess to fight the best time after time. What did you see whilst he was beating the current Light heavyweight Champion as well as Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell and Arthur Abraham that made you think he was so ****?
Perhaps a bit too harsh, but I agree to an extent. He was made to look as good as he did because of the punch-bag before him. Let’s not forget what happened the last time he fought a nifty and mobile opponent in Dirrell, who bar the running, was troubling Froch whenever he would let his hands go. The difference between a Dirrell and an Abraham fighter, is day and night. And this seems to have been reflected in the two performances by Froch. He will not find the same success against Ward.
