He complained of a "tremodous headache" immedieatly after the first Julian Jackson fight and said it would take him 2 or 3 days to sleep off.

how has don king not been found dead yet? and steve bunce makes me ****ing sick, ways quoting don and talking him up when hes the scum of the earth.

when mike tyson questions your morals and calls you a scumbag mother****er, you know youre a scumbag mother****er

being made a vegetable would be too good for that ****, but i would gladly do it.

Redge Guitteridge noticed the problems "He's blinking a lot ,McCellan, isnt he? maybe a mannerism but ive never noticed him do it before" and it was hard blinking too, his head was obviously swimming

but he never put two and two together when mcclellan was shutting his eyes and stayed down, simply saying "this fella doesnt like it"

Don King is a piece of ****, it annoys me how new fans to boxing or casual sport fans reckon he's "quality" or "entertainment" or whatever. He is a scumbag. He has done good in the world, of course, but the bad he's done far outweighs this.

I've just finished Dark Trade - if you are a boxing fan, I recommend this book as highly as any, amazing. I don't think 1 person had anything good to say about Don King in the book.

Cheers for the vids PK, I'll watch later

Gerald McClellan stupid ass family are the blame in my opinion, Gerald McClellan was recovery well until they decided to fly him back home. They where complete bell-ends and called Nigel Benn for everything.

Don King, i think paid for all the medical bills, and flights etc...

yeah that is stupid, you can see why they wanted to go back home, but to move a guy in that condition is inexcusable. but im kind of ranting about king in general, the guy is a murderer for ****s sake and has ruined plenty of lives and careers, he obviously enjoys it too, yet there are actually people out there who love him.

didnt he suddenly just stop paying though? i thought thats what happened, could be wrong.

I remember reading an article about 18 months back from someone who fought as a welterweight and sparred with McClellan around 1994. Anyways the guy flicked Gerald with a jab and McClellan was complaining of a headbutt to anybody who would listen but apparently he confessed to the sparring partner that he knew it wasn't a headbutt and he was extremely surprised at how much it hurt him.

Read 'War, Baby' by Kevin Mitchell about this fight. Fantastic book and offers great insight. Well worth a read

Great book. And an intresting interview Nigel Benn though in every interview ive ever seen with im post McClellan is seen as some sort of villian and is always attacked for his actions. Okay for one i know this one's called Devil's Advocate so thats self explanatory that the interviewer will appear to be against Benn - But people do have to remember Benn never meant to give someone brain damage. Boxer's choose to box its there choice they know the risks involved.

That's the one i was refering to...I can't quite recall the fighters name in the report, but what you've said is spot on. Gerald got hit with a jab and he felt dizzy, started blinking badly like in the Benn fight and admitted after the session that he was seeing spots, was really hurt and felt like he had been headbutted when he wasn't. Many witnesses say this happened on a few occassions and are convinced that McClellan was suffering from an injury as far back as 3 years before he fought Nigel Benn. And it was only a matter of time before he had those complications in a fight.

i saw that programme when it was first aired, was, and am, a huge benn fan...he always imressed me with his honesty and openess....think he conducted himself very well in this programme...

as for king, yes, he is a ****..that is unarguable...but we would not have had 90% of the great fights we have
seen without him......just playing devils advocate haha
