Johnson next for Froch?

Froch v Johnson will be in the USA. According to Dan Rafeal, that is set in stone by the Super 6 contract.

 

Johnson is tough fight for anyone, even now.

 

they released the tie breaker rules over a year ago and when Green and Johnson joined they made it clear they got Taylor and Kesslers rounds.

 

From Showtime's website these were the total points after stage 2:

There's only two points in it between Kessler and Abraham. If Johnson somehow then unfairly inherits Mikkel Kessler's points, he'd have 2 points more than Arthur Abraham.

Against Allan Green, the scorecards were 66-67, 66-67, 68-65 against Glen Johnson. Add the total = 200, meaning GJ has 202 points more than AA before he fought Froch.

Abraham went all the way with Froch with scorecards of 109-119, 108-120, 108-120. That's now well over the 202 points that he needed to make up therefore he goes above Glen Johnson in the table to get an immediate rematch with Carl Froch, which neither me, you, Carl, Arthur or anyone in the world would want to see straight away therefore Showtime put Johnson ahead as it makes sense for all parties involved.

Case closed.

 

Johnson is still a very tough old nut. Froch would be wise to repeat the Abraham gameplan I think, don't want to slug it with that crafty old fox.

Johnson got three points for the KO over Green..... with Kessler's points that gives him 5, Froch has 4 with two decision wins, Abraham has 3 with the KO over JT and two losses.

Therefore.....

1. Ward 6
2. Johnson 5
3. Froch 4
4. Abraham 3

Johnson didn't inherit Kesslers points though. Look at the table in the link above, he only has 3 points. If Froch-Abraham was a close, competitive fight then they'd be having a rematch. It has nothing to do with the rules they set for the tournament, it's just what makes sense.

The rules state that if you KO your opponent, you get 10 points for the remaining rounds as the winner and 8 points for the remaining rounds as the loser.

The means that the tally finished;

Johnson 1029
Abraham 1002

Froch finished with 1038.

Johnson vs Froch is a great fight but its a shame Kessler still isn't there as that would of been the the semi finals fight.

 

Yeah I agree with that. A Kessler-Froch rematch as a semi final would've been perfect. Now the tournament's been slightly diluted by temporarily adding a light heavyweight into the mix. It's like Froch said though it's still the main principle that the winner is the one that manages to come through all of that. Even if Glen Johnson did manage to win it he'd have beaten Green, Froch and Ward or Abraham.. that's a hard way to become champion for sure.

 

Fair enough with the maths Big Dunk but I still think it would have played out differently if Froch was a Goossen fighter or a Sauerland fighter. Would those promoters allow their fighter to be rewarded for winning a fight by shutout by then having them matched up against a tougher opponent next time around then had being previously pencilled in? No ****ing way.

Sauerland or Goossen would have been going ape**** about the bizarre scoring system which means that Froch fights Johnson because Kessler did worse against Andre Ward than Glen Johnson did against Allan Green. **** makes no sense.
