I'm not the loudest or frequent poster here but been here a while.

I'm forming a treatment currently for a pitch for a television documentary piece on Journeymen as part of my university course. Obviously this is at its most basic, basic stage at the moment but I'm just gathering research and need/want some quotes from boxing fans (and any boxers or buncey if they fancy answering) regarding their thoughts on journeymen within the UK boxing game.

So, what are your thoughts on the importance on Journeymen within the UK?

    Cheers guys! :good

    2 good reads on this:
Boxing Monthly, should still be out - the one with Haye Harrison on the cover IIRC. Good interview/feature on Johnny Greaves I think it was.

Boxing News Annual, good indepth feature on Matt Scriven and his career/life in general

Yeah it was a good as well, think they have a new one out now though, sure you could find a way of getting it though.

Didn't Buncey say he was going to get him in the studio for a chat in a few weeks aswell.

I hope its going to have the same "feel" as how Showtime does 'em and NOT HBO!

Good luck in your pitch mate.:good
Lots of true characters and great stories to be unearthed. I think it has real potential and it's a fine subject you've went with.
I done Television Production at college many moons ago and have worked on a few things here and there but my career ended up taking a totally different path.

Thanks a lot man. Nothing better than doing something about the thing you enjoy the most- so boxing and television is a good mix, there's worse things to write a 2500 word research essay about :bbb

We had a pre-pitch yesterday and the lecturer was pretty keen on the idea and possibly developing it into a pitch to present to one of the channels so I'll keep you posted :good

Also took great pleasure in quoting viewing figures etc to some knob who claimed after my pitch that "no-one would watch it cos no-one watches boxing" :patsch

You want to speak to Nobby Nobbs. I don't think he is a trainer these days but I beleive he still manages. He must have some great stories & plenty of contacts.
    Good luck with the project

There's a documentary being made at the moment about Emanual Augustus

Maybe you could try to get hold of the documentary maker's email

"Augustus is the subject of a documentary film entitled "The Journeyman" currently being filmed in Brownsville, Texas. Documentary filmmaker Sean Lynn will follow Augustus until he gets a shot at a world title or retires. Filming began in March 2006"

you will have to title yours uk journeymen.;) they fight more regulaly than prospects or main event fighters, they ,in most cases are paid well, they are also not expected to sell tickets to cover their fight costs, and if they have any sense they won't be termed to dangerous, as they will only get the hard jobs, , not very sporting but true.:good
