IMO, @ LHW Green has too much CHEEN and too much power for Geale.

Ys, Geale is technically far better than Green, but I think LHW is Green's optimum weight for power and speed, and he would catch up with Geale at some point and shorten him up with a few big shots.

Green certainly has a good chin, and Geale wouldn't be knocking him out, however.......
........I doubt he would ever catch Geale enough to rough him up in any significant way.
Green would be as frustrated as he was against Mandy.

yeah i dont see Geale knocking him out but in saying that i didnt think Pacman would be droping guys like Cotto, speed vs Power has a funny way of sorting the boys out from the men.

I think Geale would win if he boxed Green, a possible KO would occur if Green got frustrated, tired and desprate. The only way Green wins against Geale is by mauling him and making it a messy fight, boxing geale would be suicide he would have to brawl, i think it would be an awsome fight and one i would pay to see.

I am suprized that Danny has opted to fight guys like Siaca instead of guys like Geale, i think Geale would spank Siaca and would be a much more entertaining fight for the fans than the siaca bs we got dished up with.

Hamdan is experianced and cagy, he did well imo against Mundine and would give Green some troubles, i dont think he would be stopped because he is very gritty and has a solid chin, Green might drop him but i just dont see a stoppage.

Soliman would perhaps cause an upset, the first time anyone fights soliman is the hardest because he is so awkard, he even made KT look a bit silly in their open sparring session in prep for the shamba mitchell rematch, it takes a while to get used to his style and pick him off even then he is able to adapt and change his style.

Out of the three for sure Geale would give him the most trouble, i wouldnt write off soliman and hamdan that fast, i think its important to note that Danny did not go anywhere near Hamdan or Soliman when he was fighting in the Middleweight division whilst Mundine did.

And no im not back on the Mundine bandwagon fellas , just stating the obvise.

Since Green & Mundine met in 2006 Mundine has had 14 wins with only 4 KO's.

Green would have had early nights against bums who went the distance with Mundine, like Nievas, Crazy Kim, Falliga and Jarez - and other than perhaps Geale, none would have troubled him in the least.

Green was never at his best against Mundine he cooked himself badly against Sullivan and took a long time to recover Mundine and his advisers were well aware that Green was not right and all of a sudden the fight was on,his career has always been manipulated and him and his advisers being oppertunists would have said heres your chance to fight Green he has to drop in weight and is probably at %70 all of a sudden the fight was on.!!!
interesting to note that all these fighters mentioned would gladly fight Mundine or Fighters above them in the rankings but Mundine continualy fights Patsy's that are under him,I suppose that explains the"Heart as big as a Tic Tac"comment.!!!!

Now all this speculation could be put to rest if mandy had the courage to fight Geale or Green again,he always likes a Big pay day and for soemeone who wont go overseas its a great oppertunity, but I can assure you both are not on his radar at the moment he will continue to fight Cabbies and fighters that are no danger to further his already suspect and manipulated career.!!!

There is something to be said for the impact of the Sullivan fight.

Green's actually had more fights above the SMW limit of 168lbs than he had at the SMW limit - 15 @ SMW, 19 above SMW.

Take a look at the run of fights he had immediately after Sullivan:

Gonzalez @ LHW (173.75lbs) - dropped for the first time in his career

Beyer 2 @ SMW (166lbs) - looked terrible, almost anaemic and very lacklustre, had none of his usual energy and just followed Beyer around the ring being counterpunched. He was relying on getting in one big shot to KO Beyer and very nearly did in the last round when he obviously threw everything into it in one last hurrah.

    Crawford @ LHW (171lbs)

    Garcia @ LHW (171.75lbs)

Mundine @ SMW (167.25lbs) - Green looked emaciated at both the weigh in and in the fight, he just followed Mundine around being counterpunched, and it was his last fight @ SMW.

Funny how some people hold him to his word when they quote what he said immediately after losing to Mundine ("But Green said after he lost to Mundine that he had no excuses, the better man won" etc) but the same people choose not to believe him when he says he was having trouble making the weight a few months later. Does the fact that every fight he's had since has been at LHW or above lead these people to believe any differently?

Geale keeps Danny at bay all night long, just like Mundine did to Danny back in 2006.

As I said, at a weight closer to Light Heavy that they both can make, I think it's got all the right ticks for a great fight. And very sellable to the Australian public.

Go Gealey in the meantime for his run at the IBF Middleweight crown! :bbb

his diet and conditioning were better under Salas he was finally training smarter than ever.it was all we were talking about on the forum before the fight and how Fenechs stupid gameplan lost him the Beyer rematch.

people whine about 3 pounds difference yet say nothing about a 15 months inactive Flores weighing 3 pounds lighter.just face facts Green had KO'd all but 2 of his opponents at SMW(Garcia was 171 i think)he found it impossible to deal with Mundines speed and angles in 2006.i lost 4 months of avatar bets $20 to Pecks but Mundine was a better fighter then.now probably not but
    we will never know.

Getting back to hearts as Big as Tic Tacs, could you see Geale knocking back a world title shot against the likes of the hard hitting Golovkin,Mandy **** himself but I reckon Geale would step up to the plate.!!!!

You didnt seem to share this opinion back then though. In fact, I remember you making a thread on the day of the fight titled "Green to win decisively" :yep Why would you do this if you thought he looked emaciated?

You are certainly not alone though, as not one person on the forum, nor that I had talked to IRL had any issues with Greens weight pre fight.

Funny how some people hold him to his word when he says he was having trouble making weight, but the same people choose not to believe him when he made no excuses beforehand and immediately after the fight.

I myself choose to disbelieve him simply because I remember him going on about how his new diet system with Salas was far superior to his prior one, and that how he's not killing his body anynmore in the process. Perhaps it was Danny having a dig at Fenech, and if so, it's come back to bite him.

A fighter is more likely to be truly honest in the moments straight after a fight. It's only when time passes by, and a lot of "yes men" around them start thinking up excuses as to why they lost.

I dont doubt that Green is better suited to light heavy, but talk of his vomiting prefusely, etc to make weight, ets is insane. He mentioned a few times that his diet is muc much better now under Salas, and how he feels far healthier. Granted he was at 175 then, but he couldnt speak highly enough of his new system, and noone believed that cutting the extra lbs to make smw would be any issue.

Noone then believed there would be any issue with Green losing the 5 pounds to make SMW, and if there was, then Green shouldnt have campaigned for 5 years to make the fight happen at SMW.

It's simply a coping mechanism to deal with defeat. Boxers rely on their ego's, and when someone like Mundine is in Greens head as much as he is, well, like Shutter Island, you need to distort reality in order to go on living that you're not #2 to this guy.

I remember Green saying pre Mundine that before he fought Beyer in the rematch, he never really visioned himself holding his arm in victory after the fight, and that he has for this fight.
He then said the same pre RJJ, but instead said that he never visioned himself in victory in the Mundine fight.
