He has made 9 defenses of his 122lbs title, and was a legitimate two weight world champion with wins over Morales and Hamed before Marquez won his first world title. Morales was a two weight world champion by the time Marquez won his first. Non-comparable.

Barrera edge the fight imo. The ref ruin that fight by not counting the knock down which would have given Barrera a mental edge. This fight prove to me a prime Barrera would have decisively beaten a prime Marquez.

I thought Barrera had the earlier rounds. rnd 4-6 was a toss up..JMM 7th all the way. Juan won the fight.

I dont think MAB beats JMM at any stage, personally.

JMM was almost 34 then, JMM's peak was around PAC I in 2004 imo.

EM fought and TKO'd Reynante Jamili in the 6th rd just over a year before in 1999

PAC fought and TKO'd Reynante Jamili in the 2nd rd just under a year before in 1999

Clear win for Marquez ? I don't know what the hell fight some of you were watching but it was a close fight had they scored the KD MAB would have won ..Barrera schools JMM at any stage ..I mean he's a stylistic match up for Manny but thats it before his fights with Manny where was he ? He's good but not on the level of MAB or Morales at their peak !

The truth is, Barrera is more talented and more ferocious than Marquez when he was prime. No way he could lose to Marquez if they fought in their prime.
