    Morning all,

Reading Johnny Nelson's book at the mo and wondered whether anyone had a low down on what his boxers actually do during 'the lines' drill?

    Cheers

There are a load of lines painted in different patterns on the gym floor.

It's a staple of Brendan's programme that the lads, from very early on, 'do the lines' and continue to do them all the way through their career.

Boxers basically travel up and down the lines shifting their feet in a routine pattern.

how many trainers in one city get the opportunity to work with guys like naz, witter, brooks, nelson, graham etc he got these guys early on and all of them without their boxing skills are fast, agile, powerful, durable guys who offer a great set of talents to work with.

i can see what your saying, but the ingles train them to be awkwardly efective, theres fit athletic people in most gyms, but there trained in basic methods, to the point were theyve learned boxing from a book, ask bellew, he posts on here, how efective there style of awkwardness is.:good

Ingle has had a hugely disproportionate amount of champs through his tiny gym.

He has had a massive influence on his stable.

Ingle must be doing something right whether it's his training methods, instilling confidence or having an eye for talent. Nobody can question the results.

Herol Graham claims that he brought the style to the Winklebank gym. He claims he got it from Nottingham and that Ingle adopted it once he saw it.

He said ''how many white men you see fight with that style'' or something to that effect.

Now the lines thing is something i seen a couple times and it still baffles me a wee bit.

Ingle's methods whether originally his or not have worked brilliantly but i do feel he tried to impose a style that only suits fighters with a natural instinct for timing and reflexes on to many fighter without those qualities and that is where he falls down a bit for me.

    I agree with that.

At the end of the day his results mark him out as a fantastic trainer, nobody can doubt that they speak for themselves.

But you just can't do that with a lot of kids, we've seen quite a few fradulent wannabes rear their heads that would have been better served with more conventional methods.

ingle definitely has something to do with it. he nurtured that awkward style.
