If you were boxing in the heavyweight division, whose jab would you want in your arsenal:

Holmes-fast, versatile, thrown in rapid succession

Ali-fastest heavyweight jab ever, light but dizzying, arm punch

Louis-short, compact, thrown in textbook fashion

Liston-ramrod, shove down your opponents throat, huge range but didn't always double up

Not necessarily the "best" jab, but the one you would want if you could have it?

Liston: "The Cannon" was the most powerful jab in the history of boxing, piston-like & very long range.

It thudded off his victims heads' like an express train, or should I say "Night Train".

Well can I have Liston's jab but use it to my accord? You say, doesn't double it up much but I sure as hell would double-triple that jab.

I'll take Sonny... Why? Cuz its hard, but slow.... I might be able to see it and parry it.... "Holmes and Ali" will dice you like a razor-blade..... Louis will chop you up...... Liston can KO you---if he tags you......

I'll take Holmes' in a second: not quite as fast as Ali but stiffer and with more sting, faster and less open to being countered than Liston's, (and more opportunity to double and triple the jab effectively) and more effective in nearly all ways over Louis'.

Okay, yes, Holmes had the "Best" jab overall..... However, if facing these guys, I'd rather face Liston in ring center with his hard, but slow jab.....

I think Holmes had the greatest jab of all time. It always seemed to hit the spot.

The problem with it was ,it was so heavy it often thrust his opponent back out of range for any follow up, so, it sometimes worked against it self.
I think I might go for Holmes' jab and the way he used it as a range finder for his right cross.
Louis' was a short jolt of a shot, that busted up features .
Ali's was fastest, but lighter than the others mentioned.

    Listons looked the most concussive.

Louis' looked the most painful, like a sharp sting.

And Ali and Holmes' looked the most frustrating to counter against.
