2 great italian fighters but i agree i think as much heart as carnera had he was too slow 2 keep marciano at bay and as the body got pummeled carnera was the sort of fighter to tire in late rounds. rocky late stoppage or ko.

Primo is a VERY big target for The Rock...Marciano wears him down....Rocky by KO...

Primo Carnera always struck me as a fighter who was fighting scared. Who didn't really know how to fight but was just gigantic so could get away with it. He reminded me a little bit of Frank Bruno in that he was always reacting and not acting. And his reactions always seemed to be tinged with that fear - he was was always pulling away with punches and whatever else he was doing he always at the same time preparing to grab and hold - that's the worst type of fighter to be against Marciano - Marciano in contrast to say Maxie Baer didn't mess about (for 90% of the fight) - he got stuck right in - Max Baer was more interested in going for merry little walks around the ring and preening to the women at ringside - yes Primo would be extremely awkward and would make it very difficult with his huge size but Marciano was a vastly more precise fighter and puncher than Max Baer - Marciano wouldn't be able to miss such a huge target and I can only see a prolongued and painful drubbing for the Ambling Alp

    V, I don't understand your question. But I'll expand on duodenum's post.
I did see Marciano stop carmine vingo at MSG. Great seats right over the ring.Carmine Vingo was young and at about 210-20 was so much smaller than the behomith Primo Carnera, who scaled about 45 pounds more, and
    much more experienced, was Primo...
Besides Carmine Vingo had no reverse gear, but just traded with Rocky
Marciano...Bad move on Vingo's part, and he paid the price for this strategy. Carnera , though powerful was a defensive minded fighter, who
despite his massive size, could move very well, and had a decent jab, and
a good uppercut...So Vingo and Marciano were two different style opponents for Rocky Marciano.
Please do not underate the power of young Max Baer, in relation to Marciano.Though wild with his looping right hand Maxie's right hand was lethal. His blows killed Frankie Campbell, ruined Ernie Schaff's health, leading to Schaff's death, and absolutely destroyed a great young heavyweight by the name of Pat Comiskey..Baer when serious, was as
lethal a puncher as the MUCH smaller Marciano was...

Carnera seems to deal very well with Uzcudun's style there. I agree that it could be tougher than anyone expects it to be on paper, but then again Rocky always had tough fights.

Carnera seemed particularly vulnerable to right hands ,not a good recommendation when facing Marciano.:scaredas:

Marciano is light years better in every way but Primo could hug his way to a decision loss .. he might survive the distance but loses every round as Rocky uses him as a heavy bag ... Rocky also might lay him out with some broken ribs ...

After reading many of the responses from posters like Duodenem and Burt, I'm thinking that Carnera may not be as big of an underdog as some might think. He was actually a pretty good boxer, who took many shots from Max Baer, despite having a twisted ankle - perhaps causing some of those knockdowns, and his size advantage would be collosal. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised to see this one go the distance.
