so it's safe to say your of the opinion If Cotto gets hit with a punch he doesnt see like he often does by Martinez , he'll take the punch just fine?

Cotto definitely need to alter his defense. He needs to learn not to lean his upperbody in front and over his knees, especially in the middle of the ring. He didnt really show that against Foreman. Thats a very important adjustment especially against a fighter like Martinez who brings alot of his punches from underneath.

Which round was Cotto wobbled against Foreman?

And Cotto isnt getting no where near TKO'd in a similiar fashion like Williams. Cotto isnt dumb enough to fight face first without looking. If Cotto gets TKO'd it would most likely be due to cuts from accumulation.

Maybe, that's not what I understood in your first post when you said alter, I think what your describing goes more with improving defense, but english is my second language, so missunderstandings like this will happen.

I wanna say its around round 4. I believe it was a right hand. I'll have to verify the exact round. Granted Foreman has decent handspeed so thats why i used him as an example in comparison with Martinez. Its definitely 3 or 4.

You're talking about this sequence, correct?

I don't think he was wobbled at all. It was a good shot, no doubt. But afterwards, Cotto barely missed a beat and continued to come forward responding with his own punches. Any other time he's been hurt, he immediately fought on the back foot until his head cleared. Which is why I don't think he was seriously bothered here against Foreman nor do I believe he was in serious trouble in the first round against Judah as so many suggest.

:good cuando dijistes alterar lo que entendi fue cambiar, pero Cotto esta muy viejo para estar cambiando su estilo, pero si se trata de seguir ajustando su defensa para cubrir sus debilidades estoy 100% de acuerdo.

The was the sequence. Again Foreman was a feather-fisted fighter. cotto showed huge heart as he always does. Martinez however is a bigger puncher than Foreman by a long-shot IMO.

Yes that shot landed flush with full force which is why Cotto's body got shaken up. But I agree that he was not hurt* in the sense we use it when a fighter 's equilibrium, legs and/or mind doesn't respond right. He was in perfect shape the whole time to continue fighting.

I stopped reading right here... he literally knocked Citron out in their fight! Cintron is just a clever little cheater and said he was a headbutt that did it, when no headbutt was even close to landing...

:huh No, your understanding the opposite of what I'm trying to explain. After the Pacquiao fight, Cotto said he was overwhelmed by Pacquiao by shots he didn't see coming and even though Cotto did go down on a right hook and a left, the end of the fight was a stoppage. Martinez is similar to Pacman, but he doesn't throw as many cominations and is more resourceful with his punches, he isn't a volume puncher like Pacman. I also believe he does use angles, but not as much as Pacman does and fights more in a straight line, putting his weight behind his punches.

I do think Sergio has a superior punch to Manny's, but I think if a Cotto-Martinez fight ever did happen it might have a similar result to Pacquiao-Cotto with Martinez winning on a tko or stoppage for the reason Cotto will look to box more and trade less. When Cotto trades with faster fighters like he did with Judah and Pacquiao he didn't look so good trading with fighters with faster hands. He does much better when he fights off his jab and doesn't stay stationary with that earmuff defense, but when Cotto used to use angles like he did vs. Mosley he was at his most effective. If he does that vs. Sergio or anyone he won't be as easy to knockout, but because he isn't as fast as Sergio or Manny, he will get stopped. Cotto does have a defense, he's not known for it, but he does have a defense.
