Qawi wasn't a beast. The scoring in 1st Holyfield fight (which is used as a reason to praise Qawi at CW) was ridiculous, Evander won almost every round and clearly so.

No he wasn't. Unless you have an axe to grind for Roy.

Qawi would have painted the ring with him.

I like Hill. He was a good fighter who made the most of his talents. But he's about as close to Qawi as an Easy Jet flight is to it's advertised destination.

How much time did Qawi spend at high level at 175? Less than 2 years, without the loss to Spinks - less than 1.5 years. Sorry, but Qawi is below Hill at that weight, and very clearly so.

Not only was he better than the very competent Virgil Hill he was a better fighter than anyone Jones beat.

It's self-evident. And only someone with blinkers on would have it any other way. You've had your fun, and we've enjoyed the farce, but it's time to fess up.

Senya are you talking about the same Virgil Hill that in his prime got smoked by an aging Thomas Hearns. It's funny that you rip Hearns on another thread but praise Hill on this one

yes at Light Heavyweight he was, but he wasn't a better fighter than James Toney.

    Spinks wins at LH

    Eddie Mustafa Muhammad
    Marvin Johnson
    Dwight Muhammad Qawi
    Yaqui Lopez
    Eddie Davis
    Mustafa Wassaja
    Johnny Davis

    Montell Griffin
    Antonio Tarver
    Reggie Johnson
    Virgil Hill
    Merqui Sosa
    Clinton Woods
    Eric Harding
    Julio Cesar Gonzalez
    Mike McCallum

I mean Spinks clearly has the better resume at that weight, but it's not as far as you think. That's for certain.

Jones doesn't have a bad resume at Light Heavyweight at all. I'm saying he's around top 11 or so at Light Heavy, he could possibly crack the top 10 but i'm not sure. Spinks on the other hand around 5 or so.

Qawi was better than Hopkins, Toney and McCallum? You must be out of your mind.
Hill had a long and pretty consistent career at the top at 175 lbs. Qawi had a very short run, with the best wins being over Muhammad, who wouldn't make all-time Top 25 at the weight, IMHO. Praising somebody as borderline great for wins like that is absurd to me. Qawi is overrated, both at 175 and 190. Spinks' resume being better than Jones' at 175 lbs? I don't think so. Marvin Johnson was at CW, and so was Yaqui Lopez, btw.

You need to throw in James Toney to the Jones scalps. On fight night, he and Roy weighed the same or more than the 'LHWs' you list for Spinks when Spinks fought them.

And Toney was better than any of Spink's opponents at LHW.

It brings the resumes much closer.

And besides, as I'e already stated, there is a difference between 'resume' greatness and 'h2h' greatness. (Calzaghe is probably the ' greatest' ever SMW, but I would bet on Roy to take him at 168.)

Jones had too much speed and reflexes for Spinks.

    Jones by UD.

I think Spinks was too busy and awkward for Roy... People always point out his KO loss to Tyson, but forget he was never knocked down and never stopped at 175. I doubt Roy knocks him down or out, and I see him more fundamentally sound that Jones. I see a more awkward, slower-to-materialize decision victory for Spinks based on hard punching, fundamentals, and managing distance.

Qawi was MOST DEFINITELY better than Hopkins,Toney and McCallum at 175.There is nothing in their resumes that would indicate otherwise at that weight. And just wtf did Jones do at 175 that was better than MS at 175?DelValle?Ur joking, right?

we aren't saying he was better at Light Heavyweight dumbass. Overall Toney and Hopkins are better than Qawi.....

WTF had Jones done at 175? Beat 8 former, reigning or future 175 lbs titlists, almost all being one-sided wins.
Don't be telling me that Spinks' reign was filled with great talent.
