I got to say it again! The "how good is Cane Velasquez" thread got me thinking bout the UFC HW division and I think it might be on a bit of a downer as I was looking at their roster on their website. It can come back though. I got to thinking about 205 and looked at that roster. Check it out - Rua, Bader, Bonnar, Brilz, Couture, Davis, Evans, Franklin, Griffin, Hamill, Rampage, Jones, Machida, Lil Nog, T.Silva, Vera, Soszynski I haven't included other guys listed such as Liddell, Ortiz, Gusafasson, Diabte and Matyushenko.
as far as I remember lightheavyweight has always been great in mma,to me its the best division to watch.
So many good fights can be made from that list. UFC needs to sign some big guns in the HW division, but who can they get?
SF really have snapped up every remaining HW from everywhere and made a devastating division. Serge, Fedor, Barnett, Werdum, Reem, Silva all came from different places and situations. But its time to see some good fights be made.
Right now LHW in the UFC has got to be the most disapointing division in the sport for me besides Shogun holding the belt. Its been pretty much wall to wall questionable decisions and LnP stalling recently, Rampage, Bader and Rashad are all in the title hunt because of it and none of them have impressed me much recently.
well I'd personally delete a few of these guys if you're posting contenders. Bonner would go, and I'd likely eliminate Couture who recently said he's going to focus on movies and is likely to just fad away. So I'm not anticipating any future fights coming from him. That said you're right about the strength of the divison but when I think of how easy A. Silva went through Griffin and Franklin, it makes me appreciate how good he really is. Jones is another fights I think is going to do well in this division.
