Post what you thought Tyson's most impressive performance was from 1986-88

I thought it was the biggs and green fight, he looked great iin both fights. He showed he could carry his power in the later rounds in the biggs fight and he showed he could go the diatance with ease when he trained hard and looked good from a techinical stand point. What was your favorite Tyson performance from 1986-88?

I always thought he looked amazing in the first round against Pinklon Thomas. Other than that, I'd have to say it's a toss-up between Biggs, Spinks and Holmes.

 

Maybe it could be because Thomas showed up to fight like he did when he dominated Witherspoon and it could be people underate Tyson's victory not looking at it closely.

Yeah but you can't use that excuse because many people thought he could beat Tyson at the time, as he proved in all his heavyweight wins. He carried his speed and punch with him to the division. Tyson was just the best fighter he's ever fought. Spinks had the tools, but Tyson also had the tools and that was the difference.

I would pick Spinks, I guess. Would have to think about it some more.

Didn't Tyson lose to Biggs in the amateurs or something? He had a real anger towards Biggs at the time, I thought. And he let that anger out in the fight.

he didnt dive, he froze with fear and got annihalated. he 2nd knockdown was really heavy and a finisher for anyone.
Berbick was awesome IMO.

The Tucker fight was a good win.Tucker was unbeaten and world champ.

 

the 6th round against pinklon thomas was peak tyson, combination punching of the highest order.

 

A good win but a poor fight as a spectacle , Tucker was spoiling but didnt stink the place out like the bonecrusher did.

I rate the Pinklon Thomas fight as his best in 86 - 88 , Pinky's left jab was 2nd only to Holmes' jab at that time and we all thought Tyson would be offset by a good jab from a mobile heavy ( he was in Tokyo 90 )

Totally ruthless and clinical finish - Tyson never wasted a shot and the KO was bad enough to have Angelo Dundee fear for Pinky's life - it was that brutal.
