In this thread, you may talk about the great man, and the lasting legacy he will leave behind. Baring in mind it's fecking obvious he will beat Clinton Woods, and Bernard Hopkins if he decides to leave the comfort of his rocking chair Alternatively, if you wish to discredit Joe Calzaghe, enlightened posters can feel free to point and laugh at you Yes This content is protected This content is protected
One of the best fighters ever??? How can we know that? His last three fights include a relatively unproven, undefeated title holder and 2 fighters who had to resort to REALITY TV to resurge their mediocre boxing careers. Calzaghe very well could be one of the best ever.....I HIGHLY DOUBT IT, and there is absolutely no way to know until he faces real competition! Too bad he is getting up in age and the time to do that has passed him by....Sorry guys atsch Now he's fighting washed up Woods, and the one elite he was calling out is Forty-****ing-three years old atsch Now he's talking about fighting Jones?????
Hes a good fighter, but its hard to put him at ATG staus with his resume not containing one great fighter on it.
Who are these 'greats' he should be fighting? Hopkins has avoided him like the plague Pavlik is probably shitting himself at the prospect, seems happy at MW for now, and rightly so What have you got to offer? He's beaten the best out there in Kessler
Look man, maybe its not his fault. I'm not calling him a coward. But the fact remains he fought Peter ****ing Manfredo two fights ago. I don't give a **** what the excuse is, he hasn't fought the competition to comfortably rate him as great.......The Greatest Ever? Are you on Crack atsch :yikes
You havn't answered my question If Kessler - Calzaghe was an all-American bout, the winner would be proclaimed a great. Two undefeated fighters, that have beaten all competition fighting for the belts. Yet when its European the loser is a Euro bum, and the winner is a man that's best win is over said Euro bum Clowns
But nobody would say Kesslers a great fighter, thats all Im saying. He should of come to america a long time ago and fought Jones and Hopkins to prove he's as great as people say, if his place in history meant that much to him, I think he would of took the pay cut, instead he fought fighters most people never heard of and ran up a great record for himself. I will be the first person to say Calzaghe is one hell of a fighter, but its hard to measure anyones greatness, when the fighter has never been tested by a great himself.
You are forgetting one key fact, that Hopkins is a ****ing ***** He's running like a Barbie doll, as Mayorga would say
Should be #1 for a start But really he should be recognised as a great, and that doesn't seem to be the case
Okay boys, calm down. Calzaghe has proven he's one of the best today.Does that automatically propell him into atg status? It is too soon to tell. But some pretty good fighters..Lacy and Kessler, were totally confused and beaten. Joe is deceptive. He's not flashy or overpowering. His talent seems to be, like Kessler says, "taking your boxing away". Being a tough son of a ***** helps his cause. He's tremendously cool under heavy pressure, and has pretty good whiskers. A few years from now his accomplishments can be viewed in a clearer perspective. But for now, he's a canidate for greatness, no doubt.
So if Cotto fought Williams, then the winner would be "great"??? No sorry. atsch What happened when Margo Knocked the **** out of Cintron? Margo was viewed as great :deal
