I'd say he would get soundly beaten by Martinez not a good match up for him at all. Macklin would be a good style for Pirog.

You have to remember where the payday is at. Martinez is a superstar now, and while he will claim the lions share of any purse, there is still a much bigger payday to be had fighting him than fighting the unknown Pirog.

Fighting Pirog at this stage simply isn't going to do anything for you. If you win, you beat a no body who was never very good anyway (so they will say).

And if you lose, you lost to a nobody, some unknown fighter, and you were never very good anyway!

Whereas if you fight Martinez, if you win, you're an instant superstar, and if you lose in a good fight you gain a lot of respect and a lot of exposure, and you can come again.

martinez is a world champ to, and a good one, i reckon he'd like nothing better than pirog in a big unification battle, but pirog needs a couple or 3 good defences to make the most of the unification payday, but who against, im sure they would soon get shoved up the ratings if they showed intrest, but their queing for martinez, but not the real big awkward pirog, who's calling him out?:think:good

williams is very game, it would be a good route back for him to fight pirog, though imo pirog will beat him out of site, williams will not be the same after martinez, he relied on workrate and durability, the latter one of them is letting him down now.:think:good

allot of us have watched more than just the Jacobs fight. Pirog is a genuine talent and will cause problems for any middleweight.

He was a pretty clear underdog in the Jacobs fight when he was fighting a prospect, now he's very highly rated by a lot of people at 160.

The Jacobs fight MUST have been the cause of a great deal of that....

He wasn't that much of an underdog to be honest, especially when the fight was first priced. He went out because of Jacobs hype.

To be honest I don't see the problem in the bit of publicity he's got. He sure as hell needs it anyway, and why not...Daniel Jacobs was very highly rated by a lot of people.

Fair enough. maybe its just a case of the fight giving him the exposure rather than people overating him on the back of it.

I'd not seen him before the Jacobs fight but I never bought into the Jacobs hype either so I'm waiting to see what Pirog does next to try and form a "proper" opinion.

Danny jacobs was a HBO house fighter who was hyped tremendously by them as the next big thing. But you only have to look at the Jacobs vs Walker fight to see he had no real punch power as Walker was later stopped easily by Guerrero and Lee.

In the Ishe smith fight Ishe actually mocked his power by saying "You hit like a *****" , Smith also hit Danny on the chin and wobbled him, if you listen carefully you can actually hear Jacobs let a cry out when hit "No joke", he was hurt.

It was a stupid move to put him in with Pirog by Goldenboy, what that fight highlighted for me was how unready Jacobs was for a title fight and how ready Pirog is...

Doesnt mean Pirog will beat everyone in the division. Pirog is yet to meet real quality himself...
