bewaredawg from the usa i guess, I watched a vast majority of calzaghe fights and he always seem to take someones O just check out boxrec i can remeber Delaney he was defo a prospect unbeaten and lookwhat calzaghe did to him, not sure if he retired after the fight cus it really messed him up, and i still rate delaney, Its all to do with the fighting spirit DAWG, no matter where you come from, what color you are etc, its just in your blood and calzaghe has bucket loads and just seem to have that eagle eye and the will to fight through his adverseries, I bin on this planet for a long time my young man, and when you look into the eyes of a warrior after a fight and see that his will power burnt deeper than your own then you will understand, calzaghe is a beast in the will department and guess what this guy has skill by the bucket loads, at first in his career i hated his arrogance and wanted the brash man to get humbled but as the years passed humility has found its way into him and has cooled down and become more wiser, on a sidenote your brash american floyd has no humility just bling man materialistic foolish immature idiot if you could understand jamaican patois i would cus to clart

Not more proven. If Taylor retired after the Joppy fight, you'd be singing a different tune too. Meaning if Kessler fought the competition Taylor has he might not look so hot :deal . Taylor is the most underrated fighter on this board.....and Kessler and Calzaghe are currently the 2 most overrated.

 

You have to give Joe credit for fighting young, quality fighters like Kessler and Lacy, especially later on in his career - but the fact remains that he never fought any recognised greats, and he never fought any elite fighters outside of the U.K.

I'm not saying he's never had the talent to beat the very best, I'd rate him as the second best super-middleweight ever - behind Jones Jr. I think he's been over-protected (well, he's a Warren fighter, what do you expect?) and it has hurt his legacy. It gives ammunition to people who want to slag him off, and he has always been so much better than that. But unproven at the very highest levels.

Also, Joe could have done with being about five years older. Domestically, he could have fought Watson, Collins, Benn and a prime Eubank, and moved on to the likes of McClennan, Toney and Jones. THAT would have qualified him as a true great.

 

Kessler would have beaten Hopkins, Wright, Ouma, Spinks, and Pavlik.

Just look at the way Taylor had trouble with Ouma and Spinks. Both are B level fighters at middleweight. Kessler dominated Anthony Mundine, Markus Beyer, and Librado Andrade without any trouble whatsoever.

Watching tapes and looking at the two, it is clear that Kessler is a better fighter than Taylor (and would KO Taylor if they ever fought)

All it takes is common sense to see and analyse. You look at Joe Calzaghe, the way he fights, his skills, his attributes, the way he's won his fights. Anyone with any boxing knowledge knows that he's streets above people like Taylor and Pavlik just by watching him and analysing him.

It doesnt matter that Jermain Taylor has fought the big american names, anyone with half a brain can see Kessler is the superior fighter.

Just because Joe hasnt fought some of the big name american fighters, doesnt mean he wouldnt beat them.

From watching Calzaghe fight as a boxing fan, in my opinion he would have beaten in their primes

Calzaghe is an atg. His adaptability is amazing, Bernard Hopkins like. Has handspeed that matches Meldrick Taylor. Great jab, good on the outside, fantastic on the inside. Incredible workrate, granite chin.

For me Calzaghe, literally, has everything.

Just because he hasnt fought the big american names (Who are over-hyped to begin with) doesnt mean he's not great.
