for the record i'm not really a fan of either but Lewis did deny Vitali a shot at redemption, Lewis always brags how he beat everybody he faced but what if McCall or Rahamn didnt grant him a rematch? there wins over Lewis were more decisive then Lewis's win over Vitali why no rematch?

They also act as if Vitali was dominating the entire first few rounds, good job, again, do people here really think that if Vitali was fighting a PRIME Lewis(NOT A 48 OLD Lewis) he would've won those few rounds?

In terms of who won the fight I'd say yes. In terms of whether or not it was competitive, and a good fight, no. If a mere sentence could replace an entire fight, I wouldn't watch boxing, I'd just read about it.

Now you're getting into boxing politics/economics.

The champion always has a rematch clause in the fight, the challenger doesn't. If Vitali had won the fight, then perhaps you would have seen a 2nd fight.

It's not fair but that's how it works.

Yes, I watched the fight. An old out of shape Lewis already beat Vitali. That is a fact, one that you seem to have trouble accepting.

vitali was the one to get lucky!
Lucky to get the opportunity in the first place
Lucky to get cut before getting KOd later in the fight after taking more punishment
Lucky to have the cut to blame and therefore protect his fragile ego
Lucky that Lewis felt he had nothing to prove and retired without first humiliating VK

To be fair nether McCall or Rahman wanted to give Lewis a rematch. Don king ensured McCall didn't get an immediate rematch with Lewis and froze Lewis out of a title shot for some time. King wheeled McCall out of rehab in an attempt to stop Lewis from regaining the vacant WBC title that Tyson had vacated as he did not want to fight Lewis.

And Lewis had to take Rahman to court to enforce a rematch which had been agreed in the contract for the first fight should Lewis lose. Rahman wanted to fight David Izon instead and he and King tried their best to once again side step Lewis.

So Lewis in both cases fought and argued his way to get rematches with then 2 men that had beaten him.

He might have won the first round, Lewis wasn't always a fast starter. Prime Lewis would have figured VITLAY out a bit quicker and taken him out more decisively though. Scorecards are irrelevent when you beat the **** out of an opponent that badly, as Lewis did to VITLAY. Of course the Klit-huggers are still smarting about it, 7 years later

Didn't Vitali lead on the scorecards when the fight was stopped because of his cuts?

Yep - a younger lennox was too safety 1st - he would have UD'd Vitali by a wide margin .

I get sick of the Klitards on any boxing forum - they would have died of starvation in Ali's era because no way would they both have been champs - they are just the best of what might be the worst HW era in boxing in the last 100 years - and I can remember the pre tyson 80's HW era so thats saying something .

Middle to late rounds Lewis stops him in scintillating fashion if it wasnt already stopped on devasating cuts to VK's face.

Comedy gold. But Vitali did against Chris Arreola!

48 Year old Foreman beat Briggs. And that was a Briggs in his late 20's. A near punching bag of a Briggs fought Vitali. What a farcical fight.
