I don't know why Vitali didn't knock Briggs out but he sent him to the Emergency room didn't he? Sometimes I think VK likes to drag the beatings out longer, just look at his fight with Danny Williams, he knocked him down in the first & probably could've finished it right there if he went all out.

No it's because he fight safety first like WALDO. No problem with that but don't make him out to be some kind of sub-human torturing monster or something, cos he ain't. Maybe he was torturing Byrd too before it all went tits up eh :think Same with Lewis :think

The guy is beatable, and has been beaten, twice. By pretty poor opposition. Just accept it and stop trying to make out he's an ATG because he plainly isn't. He has zero decent wins on his record. Sure it looks good when you look at his KO percentage, so does Frank Bruno. Getting it yet?

Controversial might be if Vitali could have continued and they stopped the fight to his detriment. Unless Vit was going to carry his eye in his pocket for the remainder of the fight he had been allowed to go as long as any doctor, trainer, sport fan, neutral observer, administrator, legal representative, friend, opponent, or colleague could in good conscience have allowed.

You think after the fight he went to dinner then the pub then dancing and finally made a appointment to have some medical care administered a few days later?

Prime Vitali Klitschko was either going to be allowed to go to the hospital after six rounds or he was gonna be permanently blind and leaving the ring horizontally in the next round maybe two. That fight was OVER. He couldn't see well enough with one eye, he was losing a lot of blood, and old out of shape Lewis was simply walking forward through Vitali's weakening punches and resolve and throwing bombs at his shaken and wilting opponent.

That was a fair mercy stoppage. Another round or two when his eye exploded they would have been talking about banning the ref, Vit's corner, and everyone involved for not having the good sense to allow the damaged fighter to call it a night.

Just face the truth. A 38 year old out of shape Lewis stopped Vitali in his prime in six rounds.

Even a 38 year old out of shape Corrie Sanders almost KO'd a prime Vitali in the 1st round.

Vitali is a good fighter with great size (NOT a great fighter or GREAT athlete with size).

There is zero doubt about the result between a prime Lewis and a prime Klitschko. The only debate is whether they last 1, 2, 3, or so rounds before getting stopped.

A better thread would be if Corrie Sanders was under 38, had eaten three fewer boxes of donuts, and drank six less cases of brew, and actually trained in a boxing gym rather than playing eighteen could he have finished the job in the second round against Vitali?

The answer for the other bro is already written in stone.

We don't want to watch Jameel McCline, Hasim Rahman, Eddie Chambers, Tony Thompson, Lamon Brewster, Ray Austin, Calvin Brock, Davarryl Williamson, Chris Arreola, etc., etc. either because they are also mediocre athletes.

It is not their skin color fool. It is because the athletes in this country KNOW what it means to be large, well conditioned (make that SUPERBLY conditioned), powerful, quick, fast, with amazing hand and eye coordination, and ample athletic talent. BECAUSE the athletes in this country do not see anything interesting or amazing in the Klitschkos it has worked against their career over here. If top US athletes were interested in tuning in to watch them then all kinds of kids, students, and general fans would follow suit.

I remember returning to my university (with one of the top sport programs in the entire nation) to visit younger friends when the Klits were coming up and their tapes were hitting our shores. NO ONE (NO ONE) was impressed. That is simply the honest truth. People gathered to see Mike Tyson. It wasn't because he was 6'8" and managed to tie up and plod his way to victory. It was actually because of his aggressiveness and it was more impressive because he was barely 5'10". That is overcoming odds. Size usually matters in athletics.

There were actually PLENTY of large sized NFL athletes (with Klit size and BETTER) that Mike wouldn't have thought about ****ing with in any night spot or club because he would have been giving away so much size he would have just thought better of it. Just wouldn't be worth it.

The reality is that the Klits are the best conditioned "B" level athletes with "A" level size in a population of "C" level talent in today's heavyweight division. [Unfortunately, there are "A" level athletes with "A" level size in this era. So, there is nothing special noted when the Klits ply their trade.]

YOU can get your rocks off to that - but there are tens of millions over here that have no doubt that the tide has pulled the best athletes out of boxing over here for many many generations. Our heavyweights suck. Yours aren't very good either. That's the truth.

Maybe a slightly less homogeneous population would help you guys out. We know why our boxers are so bad over here (because the real athletes are all focused elsewhere and have been for a LONG LONG time). What is your country's excuse or explanation?

McCall sent Vitali into retirement. Look at the fights Lewis was in pre Vitali, his movement was more fluent, he was in better shape.

Vitali gets TKO by Lewis inside 6.

People think Vitali has an iron chin, however he has been proper KO'd hasn't he? In kickboxing.... And here's a medical fact for you, if you have been KO'd once, it is easier a second time. Proven by science... Vitali just hasnt had the opposition to test it.... I would of loved to put a 'Cus' Tyson against Vitali....He was super quick at bobbing and weaving and a hook would land on Vitali and night night, robotic moron.

WTF does kickboxing have to do with boxing. Vitali was 6 time world kickboxing champion, still has nothing to do with boxing other than the fact that without him being in kickboxing he probably would have not had the injuries he has had in boxing. Since his injuries are mostly from his kickboxing days.
