Frazier did have a right hand but a little 7yo girl would walk him down taking his punches flush on the chin and get the better of the exchanges if he dislocated his left shoulder, no doubt

 

True, but still a force. And neither was Joe physically... most people well tell you. I think he was more well-rounded and polished at this point though.

 

Not disputing Foreman's illegal resources. Pointing out Frazier's limitations against an élite two-handed puncher.

Fact is two weapons are better than one. Smoke could have swung with both hands under distress but had only the left hook. This certainly made Foreman's work easier.

Berbick was pushing Tyson off too, but Mike kept coming in with much more effective variety, now with the left, now with the right, and romped.

 

Chuvalo might be the best person to ask about Frazier's right. In the past, he has indicated that it wasn't anything to sneeze at, a far cry from Duran's comment about Hagler that, "All his power is concentrated in his right hand. His left is dead."

 

Foreman hitting like a ton of bricks and knocking Frazier senseless in round 1 is what made it easy for him.

Frazier's right hand was no knockout punch but it's not like he only threw punches with his left hand.

Yes, but a great two-handed puncher would have made it harder. Regardless of the demons haunting Foreman at the moment, look at the fight the relatively ordinary Lyle gave him.

All Foreman had to do against Frazier was push him back, watch out for the left hook, and bomb away.

A good straight right (Louis, Marciano, Tyson, Lewis) and fluid combinations (Louis, Tyson, Dempsey) would have Foreman blinking and staggering back at some point. It would be two-way traffic, not the one-sided Jamaica blowout.

Agreed. Frazier was an all-time great force in the ring. His right hand could be dynamite on a stationary target, especially to the body.

It's just that Joe's lack of versatility with the right hurts him --in my view-- against greats such as the Bomber, the Mauler and Kid Dynamite.
