This is a funny one this because we all know about Mike Tysons power and how ferocious he was, but then again we all know how fast and how durable Ali was so theres really no way to tell. Best you can do is try and analyse the different styles and possible outcomes.

You could make the argument that Foreman was stronger and hit just as hard as Tyson (I personally disagree) and therefore Tyson has nothing that Ali hasnt seen before. You could also say that Frazier was similar to Tyson and because he beat Ali once then Tyson definitely could. However... in my own opinion if prime Tyson gets on the inside it doesnt matter who you are, hes chopping you down. I dont believe theres a boxer, dead or alive, who can take what Tyson could dish out so in this scenario Ali loses by KO.

Then again, Ali wasnt exactly a weak puncher was he?... and we all know how Tyson never liked to be hit back... so its a good possibility that Tyson wouldnt be as active in this fight because speed kills and Ali could stop Tyson coming in by throwing lightening quick combos and moving around the ring. Lets face it, who the **** did Tyson fight in his prime that even has the right to bow at Alis feet? I cant remember any fighters Tyson fought who had those kind of skills. In this scenario, Tyson bobs and weaves trying to get on the inside but cant stop getting hit in the face by Ali. Tyson grows frustrated and eventually loses by KO/TKO.

These are just two possible outcomes and we could sit here and wear our fingers away typing about it forever, but at the end of the day who knows?.. but we all have an opinion and mine is that Ali would win this one most of the time. :good

Whoa. Foreman Hook is wonderful fun, but must be called on the inaccuracies in his analysis:

    a) Tyson was not peak at Tokyo.
    b) Tyson's head movement was not defeated by Buster. It was nonexistent in Tokyo.
    c) Holyfield did not expose Tyson's insecurities. He beat him down. Apples and oranges. Ali would have to be careful with his mind games. The wrong taunting --say, insulting Cus-- could fuel righteous anger in Tyson and spell possible doom by juggernaut for Ali. Holmes spoke up, Berbick spoke up, Dundee (for Pinkie) opened his big mouth...:dead
    d) Tyson, even the half-hearted fighter post-prison, never pulled a NO-MAS. Ali would have a fighter in front of him, swinging for victory down to the last moments of the fight.

That said, of course I favor Ali over Tyson. It is still perhaps the most compelling matchup in the fantasy realm. The whole world would watch and hold its breath. Boxer vs. puncher; light vs. darkness; two ring intelligences; two legendary icons.

P.S. Foreman Hook may be slipping. I detected two "the" in his post. :hat

Prime ali would beat prime Mike just like he did in his post-prime with Foreman, with smarts. Ali was a master of getting in his opponent's heads and I think he possibly beats Mike before the match begins. Don't forget that prime Ali was very fast on his toes and Tyson would be frustrated trying to find him. Tyson still has a chance to find him but I bet Ali just gets up.

He had a big bad prime George gasping on the canvas for air lol.

*I think Ali would win... but i don't think it's all that ridiculous to think Tyson would win based on who gave Ali the most trouble. Frazier, who's no Tyson, put Ali through life and death... Tyson had a great hook, like Frazier.. is small, like Frazier... Tyson's right is stronger... i could easily see Tyson working Ali over.

The thing is about Tyson is that in his early career he was great to watch against B level fighters - some stunning knockouts and highlight reels.
He was potentially one of the greatest fighters of all time, potentially though.
The question was, could he hack it against another elite fighter.
Sadly that question was forgotten over time and when he started facing a higher level of fighter and losing excuses were made and the myth of the invincible 86-89 Tyson was created.............Well the 86 - 89 Tyson has a **** poor resume when compared to other greats and Ali has such a better resume its not funny. Ali proved he could beat ATGs Tyson proved he could beat B level at most.
Ali would win a lopside decision if Tyson doesnt DQ himself

Some people myself included do think Ali would win.I dont think its idiotic at all.I can see why some would go for Tyson and I would rather watch Mike fight than Ali,but Ali would have played with Tyson the same way he did Foreman.Too fast, too hard too good at what he did.In my opinion.

Stylistically, it was Norton who gave Ali headaches, not Patterson. Floyd was able to match hand speed with Muhammad, but he didn't have the height, reach or foot speed to honestly compete with his peek a boo manner of squared up boxing. Tyson is a couple inches shorter with the same reach. We're looking at a height deficit of five inches, and a reach deficit of ten. When Mike did manage to get close, Ali would wear him down by hanging on that thick neck.

If Tyson did manage to go the championship limit, there would be no doubt as to Ali being a runaway winner. His right uppercut would split Mike's guard with some frequency.

Ali would beat the crap out of Tyson.
Tyson's not even among the elite heavyweight greats. He was a good prospect and a good champion, but not a true all-time great. Ali would have boxed his ears off, knocked him out or made him quit.

Xpert post m8, you a Xpert on Ali And Tyson. :thumbsup

Tyson is way too SHORT And his T-Rex arms are too SHORT for him to honestly compete with Ali.:deal
Lenny Lewis is teh only guy with a niice chance VS 1960s Ali, cos of his HEIGHT, REACH, SKILLS And BRAINS that Tinkerbell Tyson lacks so v.badly.

Tysons' footwork is FLAT-FOOTED And way too SLOW for him to catch Ali. :deal

Ali would fairly hang all his 212LBS on Midget Mike's thick neck LOADS every single round, just like he did to Frazier in 1974 IMO.
BUT - Tyson does have teh stamina Frazier, so he would GASS after like 5 or 6 rounds if he lucky. :deal

Alis long-range wound-up uppercut on teh outside would easy And often split Tysons' overated gimicky-guard right open And Tyson would be too SLOW to counter. :deal

Patty was FASTER at head-movement, hand-speed, foot-work And more SKILLED at teh Cus-Style then Tyson And ALi still raped PEAK Patterson. :deal

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDHRYHedMec[/ame]

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZPHDVwTZ3g&feature=related[/ame]

Little Peak Patty couldnt touch him And Neither would PEAK Tyson, they just dont have teh HEIGHT or REACH needed to give Ali a hard fight, just like when Tyson was too SHORT And his tiny arms too SHORT to win VS Bummy Douglas. And if PEAK Tyson couldnt use his overated famous head-movement And flat foot-work to catch/get past teh jab of Bummy Douglas, how teh **** will he do VS teh much FASTER And more skilled Ali??? :deal

The SMALLER And WEAKER tyson would be forced on teh back-foot where he is USELESS, just like Patty was. :deal

His T-Rex reach And flat-footed feet would make him too SLOW to catch Ali enough to score much of anything at all IMO. Tyson would be made to look a daft, silly FOOL as he swang WILD, WIDE Haymakers at Ali, BUT missed like he did VS Douglas!! :deal

OMG i absolutely ****ing love you Unforgiven, matey, you such a inteligent XPERT on boxing. :thumbsup:thumbsup

Tyson has a swarmer-style like Patterson, Chuvalo And Cooper - Ali beat teh **** outta these men And he would VS Tyson too. :deal

That what tyson was - a good PROSPECT like Tua And Ike - a load of bloody speculative "whats" "ifs" "Buts" "Maybes" ,, nothing more. He looked pretty on film And exciting for casual fans to watch his KO's, but he got ****ing RAPED when he fought anyone decent - or not so decent *cough* BUMMY DOUGLAS *cough*. :rofl:rofl

Ali would box Tysons' ears off every ****ing round,, it would be a WHITEWASH. :deal

It would probs be EASIER then teh Chuvalo-Fight for Ali, cos at least he has STAMINA. :deal

Tyson would be KTFO like he was at his PEAK VS Bummy Douglas And Ali hits HARDER And Faster then that BUM. Ali KO9 - unless mental-midget, weak-Heart Tyson "NO MAS", probs by Biting Ali's Ears off, cos he FRUSTRATED Ali boxing his ears off EVERY ROUND, like OLD Holyfield was. :deal

    ALI WAS V.PAST-PRIME VS FRAZIER!!

PEAK Tyson got ****ing RAPED for 10 Roundz VS Bummy Douglas And ****ing RAPED for 11 roundz VS Old wash-up commander 'Vander - shows how v.****ing overated that TINY 5'10 hype-jawb midget is. :deal

Frazier is BETTER then Tyson anyway. :deal
    MORE HEART.
    MORE STAMINA.
    MORE WORKRATE.
    BETTER HEAD-MOVEMENT.
    BETTER FOOT-WORK.
    BETTER STRENGTH.
    BETTER LEFT-HOOK [Alis' Weakness]
    BETTER INSIDE FIGHTER.
    BETTER TOUGHNESS.

So **** off you dumb twat, Ali would **** Tyson ever round like he did to Cooper, Chuvalo And Patterson. :deal:deal

Tyson too SLOW And too DUMB, Foreman is BETTER And Ali toyed with him [even though he cheated like **** IMO, But he wouldnt need to cheat vs Midget Mike Tinkerbell Tinfoil Tyson, who will probs get DQ'd for biting instead of showing a HEART like a real GREAT Heavy - GEORGE FOREMAN. :deal
