Everyone is saying Khan has had a fragile chin cause 135 was not for him and he is so much more stable at 140. Are there examples in history where this realy is the case?

I think as young fighters get older, their chin improves. As fighters get older, they also move up in weight. Also, bigger fighters are slower... these smaller guys who are used to fighting smaller, faster opponents are less likely to get clocked on the chin by a punch they don't see coming from a big, slow opponent.

It's possible he doesn't have to dehydrate as much anymore and has more fluid in his brain to cushion from impact

De La Hoya suffered a couple of early KDs against Campanella and Valenzuela. Some questioned his chin early on, but as he went up in weight and got more experienced, there were no more questions about his chin.

I'd imagine that someone who was draining themselves severely would have worse punch resistance than if they weren't.

Something to do with how much fluid is around the brain or something? Dunno, but it sounds reasonable.

Cotto was a lot more chinny at 140 than he was at 147, at least it seemed that way to me.

Miguel Cotto- rocked EVEN by Malignaggi. When he moved up it didn't become granite but still very very sturdy

    Oscar de la Hoya
Zab Judah (even if the rest of his skills weren't as good at 147, his chin was better there)
