Better resume Froch or Calzaghe???

People who knock Joe's record/resume are daft to say the least.

Calzaghe is probably still a bit ahead at this stage. He hasn't got a lot of great wins (Kessler, Hopkins), but he's got a good few decent ones (Reid, Bika, Lacy, Mitchell, Eubank I guess). Overall it's going to put him ahead, IMO anyway.

This jumps up a good bit because Calzaghe gets so much stick for his light resume (light for a guy who supposedly at the top of a division for so long and is held in such high regard) and because of Froch's incredible run of fights. Carl has done really well in such a short space of time, but he'll need to keep going for a while and get some more decent wins to take this one.

 

But, if my memory serves me correctly, hadn't Calzaghe gone into the Kessler fight after 2 fights against Manfredo Jr and Bika? Froch had come out of fights against Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell and all 3 were VERY competitive.

Charles Brewer...

 

These where wars, i can remember Charles Brewer just going mental, constant pressure.

Charles Brewer & Bryon Mitchell would both beat Abraham.

Chris Eubank was not shot, he just fought Calzaghe at the wrong time. His performance against Joe Calzaghe gained him allot of respect..........Eubank won in defeat.

 

The last three should be replaced by pudwill, brewer and veit.

Calzaghe's legacy gets more tarnished by the day.

 

I disagree, Hopkins went on and did a number on Pavlik after his defeat and Joes win against Eubank looks good on his CV Jones Jr possibly could be replaced but he still beat him in his back yard.

 

If Froch wins the Super 6 (Still some ask I know) he'll be leaps and bounds above Calzaghe in terms of 'better resume'

 

Joe by a twats hair, but if Froch beats Johnson it's getting closer still, and a win against ward would put him ahead for sure IMO.

Wins against pascal or bute would cement it.

In other words, just about Joe for now but Froch is well set to overtake him.

 

You're trying to pull the patronising card because you're being a berk. You said Hopkins looked a million dollars against Jones - there was no implication of sarcasm, and nothing else to infer it by. Be more clear when you write.

Hopkins is a blown-up MW, and Pavlik looked a ****-sight bigger than Bernard in the ring. Pavlik didn't look right because he couldn't find the answer to Hopkins' movement. Same as Kelly didn't look 'right' against Martinez.

You're nailing your colours to the mast pretty clearly. You don't like Joe. That's ok, but you shouldn't let it affect a reasonable assessment of his opposition. It wasn't great, but it was similar to Hopkins' MW reign. The difference is B-Hop met Trinidad and there was no one around like that at SMW.

I like that word because it applies to your arguments. Look it up, you'll see what I mean.

 

You're basing some of this on pavlik being any good.

 

Pavlik was good. He wasn't exceptional, but a solid fighter. His limitations were clearly on display but a lot of people chose to ignore them. You need to give Hopkins credit, at 43 or something, for beating the absolute **** out Kelly. He out-sped him, out-thought him, and out-fought him.

You may not think much of Kelly, but Hopkins' performance was excellent.

 

If Froch beats Ward and Bute I don't think there's any logical argument to say Calzaghe has a better record, as of right now it's pretty close.
