I'm trying to thinking of some fights that were, if you looked at the fight as a whole quite close but ended up in a wide UD. It has to be a fair UD and not some dodgy one.

I know as much as the next fan that the game ain't straight a lot of the time, many occasions a winning fighter has lost according to the scorecards and therefore also history will have them down as the loser...but it really annoys me when some boxing fans who are otherwise knowledgeable about the game complain when there is a wide but fair UD.

People often forget how a fight is scored...round by round...im sure i've even seen tv pundits commenting on how the cards were too wide. No they weren't!!! If one fighter is doing enough to win each round, even if its close...then its fair if the get a wide decision!

    Rant over.

In summary, wide UD's that were fair as one fighter did enough round-by-round but looking overall at the fight, it was a close scrap.
Give me examples of this occuring.

Calzaghe vs Kessler - Raul Caiz Sr 117-111 | judge: John Stewart 116-112 | judge: Massimo Barrovecchio 116-112
Froch vs Pascal - Predrag Aleksic 116-112 | judge: Herminio Cuevas Collazo 117-111 | judge: Tom Kaczmarek 118-110
Kessler vs Froch - Guido Cavalleri 115-113 | judge: Daniel Van de Wiele 116-112 | judge: Roger Tilleman 117-111

Seemed a lot closer than that during the fight.

These spring to mind but I think both of those fights ended with the winner pulling away at the end.

Tom Kaczmarek's score for Froch-Pascal was nearly as bad as the 117-111 score for Kessler in Denmark. Funny how no one complained then!

Kessler v Froch comes under this category for sure. The fight was competitive, but Kessler winning the earlier rounds on pure technique, he was commanding the ring well, but Froch was making it a tougher fight. The later rounds were close but it was a fair UD for Kessler because he bagged so many more rounds, even if some of the rounds were closesly contested, for most Kessler came off 1st. And it's hard to give Froch more than 3 or so rounds in that fight because as good as he was and as competitive as he made it, Kessler just looked a shade better.

The 117-111 scorecard in Lewis vs Holyfield 2 was pretty bad.

Really? I thought Judah was out of it from the fifth on, just getting beaten up round after round. Same with Cotto-Judah.

    Roman Gonzalez vs Katsunari Takayama
    | judge: Levi Martinez 118-110 | judge: Sergio Caiz 118-110 | judge: Pinit Prayadsab 118-110

Scores suggest it was a shutout but it was a tough, tough fight for Gonzalez.

    Hatton-Lazcano? :hey

Just the otter week, Ward - Bika was incredibly wide on the scorecard (I think
1 judge gave it as a shutout) when in reality I was a close ugly affair IMO
