The worst decision I have witnessed in MMA.. Absolutely disgraceful and I wish fighters and their teams would protest bad calls like this or nothing will change.

Tony Weeks got this one right, but the judge who gave all 3 rounds to Garcia should never do another fight again.

I had Garcia losing all 3 rounds.

Hopefully the crowd last night set a good example with the ''bull****'' chant and all other crowds will follow suit.
The Judging and scoring need a massive overhaul and two of the Judges need an opticians apointment

I think that this is one of the problems... Nam didn't get robbed in the semis; he lost a close fight. The fight could have gone either way. No robbery.

However, this match WAS a REAL robbery. But people who didn't see the fight will hear that it was a robbery and not care as much...

Why? Because the word means very little these days. Every close match is called a robbery by too many people. The word has a reduced meaning...

Nam, lost the first round, won the second round and in the third MJ didn't do any damage.

I didn't see it as being close. Nam wasn't dominating every round, but he showed that he was the more technical fighter and was able to keep the bigger stronger guy from manhandling him.

Back when Machida was the kid he got the nod over Rua as he was the cover boi... then got KTFO.

Magazines lost interest so in steps moviestar Rampage, loses easily and gets the nod!

UFC is bent as ****. People like Cecil Peoples are getting pay packets full of green to write the score card at the end of the fight to make it look less obvious but i swear sometimes they can't even be bothered... i.e for Nam Phan!

It also works better for the UFC as they can claim innocence and set up an overhyped rematch... Rua Vs Machida... Rampage Vs Machida.

It's all horse****. Bring back Pride rules... you pick a winner based on the whole fight.

You may want to rewatch the fight... You have the right of the first two rounds. However, you should watch the last round again.

I have the fight on my computer; I will give you a minute to minute breakdown of the last round.

First minute - Johnson wins the exchange and takes Phan down. Phan does land some nice elbows on the ground. However, Johnson does land a good punch. Winner? Johnson.

Second minute - Phan is able to get up. Another punching exchange ensues, which is close, but Johnson probably wins it. Phan is pushed up against the cage. Johnson lands an okay punch as Phan gets out. Phan lands a really nice body punch. Winner? Probably Johnson maybe Phan if you are feeling generous.

Third minute - Phan is put up against the cage. Phan is slammed to the ground. Phan manages to get up. another striking exchange but neither fighter is even close to landing anything decent. Only one reasonable punch is landed by each fighter. Winner? Johnson.

Fourth minute - Phan is up against the cage... Again. One knee is landed by each fighter. Another striking exchange; mostly both are ineffective, however Johnson does land two nice punches at the end of it. Phan is put up against the cage again. Winner? Johnson.

Fifth Round - Phan gets off the cage. Striking exchange ensues, Johnson maybe lands a couple of grazing shots, but Phan lands a nice two hit combo to the body. Both swing and miss a lot. Phan lands an okay punch to the body. Winner? Phan.

Yeah, the round wasn't even that close... Johnson controlled Phan almost the entire round. Was a lot of damage done? Nope. But NEITHER fighter did damage. On the other hand Johnson was controlling where the fight happened and he got two take downs.

You should watch the fight again. Unless you are Koscheck you can't possibly see it as a robbery of Nam Phan.

I personally thought that Phan should have got the nod in the semis also. And with Brookings terrible stand up I think he could have had a good shout to win the whole thing. I think NP would have punished that long body of Brookings and if he could avoid the floor might well have been the season winner.

...and yet if you suggest theres a possibility of such influence in MMA 99% of fans will not accept it.

The UFC's "legitimancey" hype combined with MMA fans naturally defencive nature after the dark years has been highly effective in making such talk almost non existant.

The fact is that the hopeless vague criteria in MMA are very fertile ground for bias, leg kicks, fence clinching etc all vary massively in importance depending on who's involved, unsupprizingly the more marketible fighters at the time tend to benefit from it.

The UFC as the largest promoter should clearly be the driving force in improvements to the judging system, they never tire of telling us the influence they had on AC's when it came to legalising the sport and yet now there powerless to change anything? To me thats a pretty clear sign there happy with the current system, they'll criticize the judging when decisions become so bindly wrong the fans react but elsewhere there more than happy to take the result they want from matchs like Machida/Jackson.

No casual fan knows who Garcia is. Phan will have better awareness amongst casual fans and Spike always pushes for TUF alumni to be on its shows.

And given that people are throwing out accuisations of racism, I'd like to know what other recent screwjobs have involved Asian fighters. The last I can think of was the Akiyama/Belcher decision, and Akiyama got the nod for that one.
