Is anyone else getting fed up with Pacquiao? (Also Arum!)

    Well?

He's widely recognised as the best fighter in the world, but seemingly isn't willing to face the best fighters in and around his weight class..... at the weight class limit.

Instead, we've got a joke fight against Shane Mosley, who couldn't even beat Sergio Mora.... instead of the fight that most people seem to want against Marquez.

Even worse, it seems we've got a rematch between Cotto and Margarito, with the winner likely to get a rematch with Pacquiao..... even though both fights were high on the list of ''one-sided beatings'' of the past few years.

Apparently the Cotto vs Martinez 155lb fight is off because Cotto is refusing to do a % based deal and wants to pay Martinez a fee..... who is the draw here?

Surely HBO should pull Arum on some of this shite and demand Pacquiao vs a live, non-damaged opponent (for the first time since early 2008 :hey) and bin off Margarito - who is without a meaningful win in a similar period..... and level the playing field a little?

    Rant Over!

I read that Arum put blockers on Martinez-Cotto when he refused to do a co promotion of the fight. Arum wants everything in house pure and simple.

Yes i'm sick of Pacquiao and Arum, just like i'm sick of the Klit's Haye and Floyd. I given up caring what they do and now watch the true fighters who want to win titles and fight the best and crack on with it.

I don't watch or read any interviews about them fighters. They don't care about the fans IMO. Rather watch Jean Pascals and Froch's of this world.

you must have read a different article to me. It would have still been a joint promotion but they were arguing about whether Martinez should get a set fee or a percentage or the PPV sales.

Arum knows he can make Cotto vs Margorito 2 and do a big number, where else can Martinez go to make more than the $2.5million he was offered to fight Cotto?

You don't get what you deserve you get what you negotiate. Cotto is still the draw not Martinez as unfortunate as that is.

It's over at the scene, it's Di Bella ripping Margarito rematch.

Arum is milking Pacman as much as possible before his fighter retires. He should fight Marquez and retire. The Mayweather fight will never happen - Floyd doesnt want any part of Manny and Arum doesnt want to split the revenue with Mayweather (so dont be fooled by Arum - he doesnt want a risky fight with Mayweather when he can make a bundle with less riskier opponents).

Cotto's the opponent now, let's be honest.

One win over a weak ''champion'' doesn't catapult him back to the top of the boxing world. Especially against a man with a KO win over Williams..... who none of them wanted to get in with.

I see the point Rob and you are right, but someone needs to get Arum under the iron fist and tell him to put a stop to this crap.

Cotto's not an opponent just because he lost to Pacquiao. We need to see how he performs in his next fight before deciding that. It could possibly be true, but we just don't know.

Either way, I want to see Pac face the Bradley-Alexander winner. Who gives a **** about Berto or Mosley? They should fight each other.

Lets be honest, Pac has become so good over the past few years that the list of "credible" opponents has become extremely short.

Martinez is such a high-risk/low reward bout, that I don't really blame Pac or Arum for dodging it for a while.

And I know that Pac has beat Cotto already, but the fact that people are scoffing at a Cotto match-up, as if Miguel is some kind of journeyman walkover, says a lot about how good Pac really is.

It would be an easy nights work for Pac if he had to fight winner of Bradley-Alexander

At 140lb Pacman would retire Marquez IMO

What's Martinez history in terms of selling PPV's?
What's Martinez history as a ticket seller?
Who got the highest viewing figure for HBO Boxing this year?
Will Martinez get more than $2.5million to fight anyone else?
Can Cotto have just as big a fight with a Top Rank fighter (Margorito)?

This is what Arum has had to say.

It seems to me its DiBella thats stopping the deal. Martinez was offered $2.5mil which is more than double his highest purse, add to that the PPV upside he could get which is generally double the starting purse, he is looking at $5million 5 x what he got for Williams 2.

Rob - let's not get into purses. DiBella's looking out for his fighter and for himself as a promoter. Arum wasn't offering a percentage, he offered a buy-out because he knows he'll make much more than $2.5m as lead-promoter.

Yeah - it'd be the biggest purse of Sergio's career, but without control of the bout it could be a disaster for him.

Can you imagine how Sergio would feel fighting for the middleweight title of the world, and Cotto making more money than him? Ridiculous. I love Cotto - but if he's challenging for the lineal MW title, he needs to have parity with the champ.

A fight against Mosley would be ****. A fight with Marquez at 135/140 would be good.

And I couldn't give a **** about catch-weights. Whats the big deal? So they're not fighting at the limit of the weight class. So what? Last time I checked 145 was in the welterweight division and 150 was the LMW division.

what exactly is his preferred weight-class now? welterweight or light-middle?

its a shame given his talent that he probably won't be having enough fights in the remainder of his career to really dominate a division. instead he'll just be picking out big names for his record and relatively low risk.

Arum is full of ****. I doubt it was Cotto that was making the demands that didn't make the fight happen.

you can't really be mad at arum for not wanting to but two of his cash cows in against a dangerous, bigger fast skilled fighter. The mosley fight is a joke a marquez one is decent.I prefer manny fighting fights in which he is the favourite over floyd not fighting
