where was he highly regarded? he was terrible.

antwun echols, danny green, daniel geale, sam soliman. all good fighters but beatable.

i think it's clear that whenever he stepped up to a champion level fighter he fell apart or just was uncompetative. the guy was/is complete hype and smoke and mirrors.

I wonder why the ropes were so loose. Was Mundine supposed to do a rope-a-dope ?

Khan TKO Maidana in round 10.

Maidana certainly is not the one to expose his chin.

I just thought about something, maybe Mundine did toss the fight, that way he could get a big payday without even having to fight a world class fighter. Hype the **** out of the rematch, big payday.

Mundine may be sneaky, but this would be beyond even him. Imagine the repurcussions if he did take a dive - it's just too big a gamble. Probably safer to move up and fight Green in a much more lucrative Australian fight.

I expect them to rematch and I expect Mundine to KO Wood. Mundine was pathetic, but Wood has pretty bad himself. Not taking anything away as it was a clean left hook on Mundine's china chin, but if you watch the replay it was a hard rabbit punch that set up the left hook by Mundine crouching down.

I was disgusted with the fact that Anthony Mundine took a fight against a guy who didn't even have a quarter of professional fights as himself. Many people crucify other fighters for cherry picking but this about takes the cake. Anyone else think it's karma that Mundine was KOed by an opponent who apeared on paper to be no threat whatsoever? Shame on him for even taking such a fight and expecting to be taken seriously.

    Shocker: Wood KOs Mundine

Unheralded Garth Wood (10-1-1, 6 KOs) just knocked out two-time world champion Anthony Mundine (40-4, 24 KOs) in the fifth round of a middleweight bout in Sydney, Australia on Wednesday night. A left hook finished Mundine.
More to come from Ray Wheatley…
