Both Pac and May has fought Delahoya, Hatton, Marquez. Since we might not be able to witness a fight between Pac and May, let's compare who is better between the 2 by looking at their fights against the same 3 opponents they have fought. Pacquiao: 3 wins (2 by K.O.), 1 draw Mayweather: 3 wins(1 by K.O.) Who do you think is better? What made you think he is better?
Its not comparable, Floyd fought marquez at 147, oscar 154,hatton 147 Pac fought marquez but never above 135,oscar 147 and hatton 140. But pac looked better because, he destroyed hatton at his natural weight while floyd had a late ko in his own division.
I understand that only a match between them is the only way to find out who's better. Atleast we can gauge them by looking at how they stand against the same opponent regardless of which weight they have fought.
Floyd: He fought a very dangerous Oscar and Manny didnt :deal He fought a more controlled, undefeated hatton and Manny didnt :deal He SCHOOLED Marquez and Manny couldnt :deal
I think Hatton was more dangerous at 140lb since he has conquered that that division until he faced Pac. And we have witness the way Pac dismantled the conqueror.
They both fought a past his prime Oscar. Only difference is Oscar thought he could still drop in weight against Manny. However, let us not forget how Pac silenced the critics by not only beating ODLH, but by retiring him for good. This has a lot to do with Pac's skill as well. I give the edge to Floyd on this one, albeit a small one. ******ed thinking. More ******ed thinking. Bottom line is they fought different versions of the fighters. I'd say Pac faced the better JMM. If you don't recognize this then you need serious help. It's hard to gauge how Hatton was when he fought Pac since he didn't seem to have been fazed at all by the loss to Floyd (his trainer at the time however, was questionable). He also faced Pac at arguably Pac's peek (both division and time) thus the brutal KO. You can argue that Hatton was not focused but I can say all day that Roach just knew his stuff and Pac executed his game plan splendidly. I'll go as far into saying that even if Hatton had a strict game plan then, he'd still get brutally KO'd by Pac and in a much much more impressive way than Mayweather ever will (who struggled HARD on the first half of the fight btw, against Pac it was simply pure domination). And let us not forget that they fought at a weight class where Hatton was undefeated. Of course you do understand that fighting above your natural weight class is disadvantageous to say the least.
If we can compare fighters by looking at their resume, isn't it easier to compare fighters by looking at the same opponent they have both fought with?
Lets compare ali/foreman/frazier and norton while you're at it ****ing nitwit. i dont know what **** they feed you down pacland but i want some.
Yes and no, styles make fights and different versions are either better or worse and it can be very significantly different versions.
Nuff said. I would add that Hatton had a gameplan for Mayweather and followed it, against Pacquiao he seemed to just run in and hope to ship his punches. But style wise, Pacquiao is more entertaining. Mayweather a better boxer. "hit and don't get hit"
I agree with you on that when you said styles make fights. But atleast we have an idea of how would they fair against the other version of their opponent. Pac vs (version of Hatton against Floyd), then compare it with Floyd. Floyd vs (version of Hatton against Pac), then compare it with Pac. and so on....
hmmmm Money fought a better version of ODLH (past prime but not weight drained) but Pac beat Oscar more convincingly Pac fought a better version of JMM (not blown up) but Floyd has a more decisive victory. Floyd beat an undefeated Hatton and knocked him out, Pac ktfo Hatton in 2 rds in his best weight. I'd say this is a stupid question to answer because this does not prove anything. ... and I'm pretty much stupid replying on this thread.
