Dana thinks GSP is ten times more popular. at 4:17 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSmVuyIOKIY[/ame]
in canada it's still Gretzky, he's been retired for over 10 yrs so that's why alot of people maybe havn't heard of him. GSP has only been getting coverage for a couple years now so he still has lots of time. If he keeps winning the skies the limit for him.
Gretzki all the ****in way up...Even ****in Crosby won athlete of the year in Canada, but not GSP... No recognition whatsoever for MMA in the mainstream media... !
There was another small country that heard of Gretzky, it had about 300 million people in it. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVdVTVR-j0Q[/ame]
It's a joke to think GSP is anywhere near the level Gretzky was at his peak. He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated numerous times and was second only to Jordan at one point. He was also on the cover with Larry Byrd so he goes back aways. All you really have to do is look at the endorsement deals to see who's bigger between Gretsky and GSP. And for those of you who don't know who he is, he's the greatest hockey player who ever lived and is so popular in Canada that 10 years after he retired, it was he who lit the Olympic touch last February here in Vancouver. That particular event alone was seen by far, far more people then have ever seen a UFC event. So it's not even close. I don't think GSP is even in the category of Sidney Crosby, who is currently the leading scorer in the NHL and scored the winning gold metal goal in the Olympics. Even those people who don't watch the NHL, surely most watch Olympic hockey. It's not that far off from saying that GSP is more popular then Pele..
GSP would whoop Gretzky's ass! But yeah, for all that fame stuff I'd be positively appallled if Gretzky didn't blow him away,
