Honestlty is was the best u seen fitz he looked fast and landed alot of nice punches, the best I have seen him , Hammond was huge for middle weight ,good performAnce!
Maybe it was the best you seen Fitzer because it was one of the worst opponents he has ever faced? Seriously, it was a joke of a match-up. Hammond is coming off a 4 loss streak and his last loss was to a guy that was 1-8. A brilliant title challenge! Seriously, its embarrassing to talk about fighting Lee and Duddy when you are delighted to be picking up baubles against muck like this. :-(
"Ireland's John Joe Nevin opened the scoring for Paris United with a unanimous decision over 18-year-old Selcuk Eker in the bantamweight contest. Nevin shrugged off his last minute worries to make the weight with a clear edge on the scores in all but the second round to win his second WSB away contest 49-46, 49-46, 49-46." Cheers Paddy, Ireland's version of skoolin foolz
That's a pity - it sounds like this guy is top quality. I wonder when he will make his debut and where?
Metcalfe and McGrath advance to finals Saturday, 11 December 2010 14:56 Crumlin's Evan Metcalfe and Ballincarrow's Paul McGrath had to survive close encounters of the 48Kg and 51Kg kind before advancing from the opening two semi-finals of the National Intermediate Championships at the National Stadium in Dublin on Friday night. Metcalfe withstood a spirited fight back from Stephen Tracey, the Dubliner sealing a 3-1 win late in the third frame. McGrath, meanwhile, found the winning score mid-way through the third to emerge with a 2-1 verdict over Gavin McComb of the Immaculata BC. Dublin's Shane Roche and Limerick's Myles Casey - a brother of European super-bantamweight Willie 'Big Bang' Casey - were tied at 1-1 at the end of the first, but Roche produced a superb second frame en-route to a 10-4 victory. Under-21 champion Chris Phelan was desperately unlucky to lose out on a double countback to Kez Ashfaq when Ireland and England drew 5-5 in Mayo on Wednesday night. However, the Ryston ace made no mistake last evening with an 8-0 win over John Quinn. Belfast featherweight John Meli ensured that the Immaculata BC will have at least one representative in Saturday's finals with a 2-0 decision over Darren Quigley and the impressive Jonathan Carroll had 10 points to spare over Jack Harvey in the corresponding last four duel. Michael Myres, Paul Hyland, Rohan Date and Michael O'Reilly also had their hands raised in victory. Myres edged out Daryl Fitzgerald on a countback and Hyland and O'Reilly beat Daniel McShane and Stephen Coughlan. The Date and Niall McFeely clash went straight to the judges following a 0-0 stalemate, while Bray Gardai Adam Nolan stopped Conor Duffy in the third and Mullaly registered six points without reply over Barry O'Toole. The light-middleweight duels went the way of Patrick J Ward and Chris Mullaly, Ward progressing on a double countback at the expense of Jonathan Dowling. Meantime, a second Ballincarrow prospect made tomorrow's finals courtesy of John Tighe's 1-0 win over John Meli. Tighe found the winning score in the third round of this encounter. In contrast, there were plenty of scores in the final frame of the Chris Blaney versus Luke Keeler war of attrition. laney was heading down the final stretch of this middleweight showdown with a 3-1 lead, but Keeler reduced the deficit to one point and then restored parity with a stunning right hook. However, Blaney maintained his composure to find another two points in the final minute of the semi-final contest of the Championships. Blaney was joined in the Saturday's finals by Ciaran Sweeney - who landed one of the best punches of the Championships in the second round versus Michael Frayne - and Christy Joyce, who earned a 5-0 verdict over Denis O'Donnell. Michael McDonagh also booked his ticket into Saturday's deciders. The Darndale cruiserweight will meet 2008 AIBA World Youth bronze medalist Davey Joe Joyce, who beat Paddy Gallagher, following an impressive victory over Mark Hoban. Gallagher held the centre of the ring for most of the first round versus Joyce, but the St Michael's Athy man picked off two neat scores, one via a left hook as the St Saviours OBA man advanced, to command a 2-0 lead at the bell. Gallagher again took the fight to the Under-21 champion in the second, but Joyce picked up another score with a right and added another score to his advantage in the third in which the bout was stopped after his opponent picked up a cut near his right eye. Eamon McDonnell and David McGuire will meet in Saturday's heavyweight final following wins over Lorcan McCann and Michael McDonagh. The Intermediate Championships conclude this evening with finals in all weight categories at the National Stadium.Boxing begins at 7pm. This content is protected
