Why I don't think Khan will get stopped tonight

It's about concentration as you say, simple as that really. He'll win a clear UD so long as he doesn't fall asleep at the wheel. Watching Khan's career at this stage will be a nerve wrecking affair because no matter how much his resistance has improved it is still considerably below average so will always be a worry against anyone with a dig.

 

Watching Maidana vs Cayo i think if Khan is sharp he could stop Maidana early. Maidana's weakness is speed and tbh he got backed up a fair bit in that fight which isn't what you expect from a banger.

He does however punch really spitefully and he just hits whatever he can, whether it's your meat and two veg or your hips or ears he will hit it. He just lands anywhere to let you feel his power. It's no vicious world class one punch stuff. It's will taking power that breaks your heart and soul.

Khan should win via points in a very very clear win and maybe drop Maidana early. I've said for ages i can see him throwing a sharp 1'2 on Maidana who gets caught square and dropping him.

If Khan loses it will be his own fault...this guys not McClellan or other great bangers like Jackson etc. He just comes forward and if your dumb enough to stand there and engage more fool you!

 

A high volume pressure fighter that can bang, can't be discouraged and, despite a shaky chin, has great powers of recovery. I can see Khan winning of course, but I think Maidana's going to get to him.

 

I might get stick for this but I'm feeling Khan in round 1 or 2. Got a feeling!

 

Is Khan a bigger puncher than Ortiz?

It's not that but he's got much more speed and from that fight you can see Maidana is vunerable to right hand counters- something Khan is good at. If he drops him once he could flurry until Cortez jumps in.

 

Why are you having such difficulty picking if you think Khan is certain to not be stopped? That should automatically make him the massive favourite in your eyes because Maidana has to actually get close to him to score points and therefore win rounds, and thats not easily done.

 

You pretty much summed it up. I only utube the fight v ortiz and maidana was very wild in his punch, just looking for the power punch all the time. Khan will pretty much schooled him with better techiques, skills and speed.

Indeed if khan lose this then it would his own fault. It wont be an easy fight, but provided khan stick to his game plan (which he will), use his superior skills then it will be a landside decision or mid-late stoppage. My money are already on those outcomes.

Another reason is that khan has sparred guys who prob hit harder than maidana at the wildcard. They fight at full tilt in that place and im sure khans chin has been tested plenty of times. He just recently sparred pac for 12 and your trying to tell me that pac didnt check his chin a couple of times?

 

Agree with this 100%. I watched alot of Maidana the last few days and the Cayo fight was the one which struck me the most. Cayo lacked any sort of proper technique and managed to back Maidana up and outbox him easily at times, Khan is bigger, stronger and faster than Cayo and i would like to think hits abit harder too. My biggest worry is that he gets caught up in the Vegas lights and freezes, but with the corner he's got and the preparation he's done, he SHOULD make this an easy nights work.

 

I just can't help but remember Khan hurt and dropped by Limond, hurt and dropped by Gomez and knocked into next week by Prescott, who hardly has dynamite in his fists, something proven by his failure to stop anyone above regional level.

Maidana's power might be a shade overrated, but until we get conclusive evidence of his ability to take a punch at 147, we must assume that Khan's chin remains one of the worst in the history of high-level boxing. It might only take a glancing blow or a stiff jab for the end to be imminent.
