Wow. The guy has some real potential. 9 professional fights and he just beat the **** out of a seasoned veteran in Paul Smith. Outrageous hand-speed in combination, and I think defensively he's very adept. Even the shots he gets hit with usually only graze him, very rarely have I seen DeGale been hit properly.

First time I've been really, really impressed by a British fighter in a long time.

His in-work was good - attack and defence.

never seemed to be in bother both physical or mental - paced himself excellently as well.

does seem to have decent power.

Groves works the body brilliantly and his chin and resolve have been truly tested, De Gale's skills still create that question mark about his own chin, however De Gale was very impressive tonight.

We could be waiting a few years on the Groves fight.

There is no other fight, domestically, at 168 than these two as well

The first thing that struck me was how comfortable and relaxed DeGale looked in there. I know he's had hundreds of top class amateur bouts, but this was his first major step up in the paid ranks.

Definately looks like a world class prospect.

I didn't watch it, but BigBone in the General kept going on about dirty tactics of all sorts. To me, honestly? That shows that he's seasoned beyond his 9 pro fights going into this. I see it as a positive that he can actually bend the rules a bit and use rough-house tactics to maintain his control on a fight. Reminds me of Ward in that sense, skilled but not afraid to bend the rules to his advantage.

All the dirty talk is handbags. Not even worth talking about.

It was the punches he landed that won him the fight...to concentrate on anything else would be short sighted...and...childish, really.

He looked top drawer. 9th fight in the Champ's home venue and dominated a decent fighter. Not bad at all....

Haven't seen the fight but Degale has always looked like a serious prospect even before he won the gold medal. It's his reflexes and timing that make him stand out so much. Very natural.

Looking forward to see what he looked like against a pretty decent domestic fighter tomorrow.
