Baer wasn't in his best condition in that fight.

I understand the "Marciano murders him." Braddock would take such a beating... it would be awful. I don't think he'll last the distance based on pure guts and a good chin. I think he doesn't have the ability to nullify any of Marciano's attack. Maybe he could try spoiling by clinching. Maybe he could get DQed doing this...

Your lack of knowledge about this sport is embarrassing ... to even suggest that the courageous Braddock would ever fight like a dog to survive is pathetic. Go back to blowing Mongoose you flyweight twat . :D

It's more like - why would Braddock be dq'd? He certainly wouldn't be under Marciano's rules, definitely wouldn't be under Braddock's rules, and probably wouldn't be under 2010 ruleset - Braddock worked in clinches. He did a lot of his damage in there.

Braddock might go the distance, but it's probably one of those scenarios where it would be better for him to get KO'd sooner rather than later.
Most likely he takes a beating and Marciano finishes it around the 10th - 12th.

Marciano breaks down the Cinderella man for an 8th or 9th round stoppage. Braddock's legendary toughness and courage isn't the equal of Marciano's legendary ko power.

Braddock was no fat inept Cockell. You people haven't watched enough of his available performances. I'm not picking him to win but he aint going out like many here believe.

On the other hand, is that the standard you're holding Marciano to...his performance in the Cockell fight? To make this thread fair then, match up a similarly subpar Braddock to go with your Rocky of the Cockell fight.

It's more a feeling that Braddock is better in every conceivable way to Cockell and people still seem to have Marciano stopping him over a similar distance. People have LaStraza and Applegate lasting longer, too.

I'll put it out there - Braddock is the toughest fighter Rocky would have met. By his HW prime he was also a really really clever fighter who was very very difficult to fight at all distances. For me, the KO calls are bad.

Ezzard Charles was the only man who went 15 with Marciano, and he shipped a load of punches and took a real beating in the process. I mean, it was a monumental effort by Charles to last until the last bell.

I give Braddock enough credit that perhaps he would being able to do the same, but I think a late stoppage is probably a little more likely.

I had just stated earlier that if the Marciano of the Cockell fight had shown up, Braddock would win. However, I do believe if the best version of both fighters shows up Marciano wins a UD. I just felt people were selling Braddock way short.

I personally think Braddock would be going out on his back in a championship fight. I doubt he could live with himself having only spoiled his way to a clear decision loss.
