GSP: ''I'm not fighting tomato cans''

My money is on GSP shooting first. I'm actually looking forward to this one unlike his past few.

 

josh didn't get into gsp's head at all, it was josh who ended up freaking out and losing his temper when he grabbed that fat black guy's neck.

 

They will shoot at the same time and clash heads. Double KO.

What does it matter who shoots first? All it proves is who had the better opening; both will go for the takedown if and when it is available.

The Dan Hardy getting out of the subs is a damn good point. People say that GSP "layed on him" when he basically tried every armlock he knew on him, even got a few to the point where most people would have tapped, he just couldn't quite finish them.

 

Yep. And with a guy who has proven to be dangerous with a lack of caution, it's not exactly easy to try to fight a tactical/technical standup fight with him. It's basically rolling dice against a dangerous striker when you stand up with hardy.

I thought GSP tried to finish the fight, going for subs, the sort that he knew if he missed would leave him in some inferior position. All the credit in the world to GSP imo. He tries to finish his opponents, trains his ass off, and fights great competition.

Koscheck trash talks GSP about being afraid to stand with him, when GSP obliges him from the very first seconds in the fight Koscheck stands there like a frozen stiff afraid to throw a punch and looking only to survive. That was worthy of a PPV main event?

lol what a bum. Manny Pacquiao would've put this guy in a coma in under a minute.

Give the UFC props for building Koscheck up as a contender tho. Definately know how to build a mismatch, like the great promotional company they are.

Since this was such a clear mismatch, I'm sure you can post
a) proof of all of your gambling winnings
b)a list of who the "real" contenders for this fight should have been.

Pacquiao is a 145lb boxer with no MMA experience, or experience in any form of fighting other than boxing, Koscheck is a 170+ lb MMA fighter with a great wrestling background; Kos would take him down as easily, if not more easily, than Couture took down Toney. In an MMA fight Pad would be obliterated like he was a guy off the street.

The fight wasn't that big of a mismatch; GSP is just that good, while he both outexecuted Kos in every aspect and had the better gameplan again, Koscheck would still be a legitimate contender for the title if GSP didn't exist. In the first fight he surprised Koscheck by opting to initiate the grappling and then outwrestling him. In this fight Koscheck trained his wrestling to try to get it back up to his top level, but GSP decided to keep the fight on the feet and out box him. Pacquiao would have no choice in where the figh took place, he would immediately be put on his back.

 

Atleast Pac's opponents put up a fight, you know, being fighters and all. And they didn't talk half the **** Koscheck did.

The only one not to go out on his shield was Clottey. Yet he probably landed 5x as many punches/strikes as Koscheck threw.

Koscheck simply showed up to collect a pay cheque. His performance was much more damaging to the sport than Anderson Silva's showboating (ironically against other guys doing what Koscheck did and not trying to win). Koscheck's trask talk to delivery ratio for this fight must be up there as the worst in combat sports history with the lopsided disparity of what he said he was going to do and the very little he did do. When your opponent takes pity and has to defend your performance, noble as that was by Mr GSP, a true MMA fighter to the core, it shows how pathetic Koscheck was.

Koscheck's not a real fighter. Pure and simple. He showed what he was in his reaction to his trainer applying that ice pack to his swollen eye. And then running away in all of the last round just trying to protect that eye.

The nerve of this guy to call other fighters pussies. Even suggested he was the real fighter and not GSP, and calling him limited. Couldn't help but laughed when I heard him say that, saying to myself, "Does this fool actually believe his own bull****?" What a ****ing joke to then show up with a non-performance like that.

 

My problem is with Koscheck's performce, as explained in my above post, not with the UFC. They did a great job building the fight as I mentioned. However this fight does highlight the weakness of the UFC having a limited amount of fighters. With GSP having cleaned out his division, all they can do now is build these guys back up for useless rematches or hype up some unworthy guys. Someone mentioned a Fitch rematch might be next in another thread?.. Lol, case in point.. I know they signed Jake Shields specifically to to hype up as a fresh opponent for GSP, but he was already shown up as mediocre in that robbery of a win they gave him in his last fight. All GSP's fights now are meaningless, let alone not PPV headliner material. He needs to commit to pursuiing a Silva fight, and test himself as the BJs and Coutures have done and move up in weight.

 

Bull****. Koscheck didn't even try for takedowns he was that scared to get hit. It wasn't like GSP was moving all over the place, he was in front of him all night. How the hell is he going to catch Pacquiao with his movement, let alone taking into account that he is a much better striker, hits much harder than GSP and throws alot more punches? Anyway, Koscheck called for a standup fight, talked himself up as a lethal striker having knocked out some bums, and GSP exposed him as a wrestler pretending to be a fighter. Pac would obliterate him. The difference in class is ridiculous.

 

Its somewhat in the middle I'd say, GSP put alot of effort into trying to finish with that armbar in the first but after that seemed content to keep top position until near the end.

 

Kos tried for a number of takedowns thoughout the fight, he didnt try for more because he knew GSP's defence was good enough to block them. Manny as far as I know has no wrestling background and would likely be giving up 25lbs or more, Kos would take him down almost instantly and then finish him shortly afterwards.
