David Haye: I'm next for Wladimir Klitschko

David Haye is claiming first blood in his heavyweight battle with Wladimir Klitschko after the Ukrainian admitted he wants him next.
Klitschko's camp say the IBF and WBO title holder, who pulled out of tomorrow's defence against Derek Chisora with a torn abdominal muscle, is targeting a spring showdown with Haye.
Haye's US promoter Golden Boy suggested Wembley or Las Vegas as the venue and the WBA champion says he is desperate to get it on after two years of near misses. Haye (left) said: "At last it seems to have got through to Klitshcko that I mean what I say and that I'll be sticking to my retirement plan of quitting boxing next November when I'll be 31.

"There isn't a career-defining fight on his record and, along with the money, that's why he wants to step into the ring with me next.
"They seem to have come to their senses and changed their position, but I know negotiations will be difficult."
But Chisora insisted he will still get a shot at Klitschko before Haye. He said: "We've a clause in our contract saying the fight is going to happen anyway. He's going to have to fight me."

If this – Haye putting himself forward - was the reason Wladimir pulled out of this Saturday’s bout, then that’s lame. The fight won’t happen until mid to late 2011, so he at least could honoured the Chisora-fight. A whole training camp for nothing.

Wlad was injured. I can't see why he'd pull out otherwise.

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO risks jeopardising his talks over a unification clash with David Haye after a scathing attack on the WBA heavyweight king.

Both camps have begun negotiations for a spring showdown following Klitschko's withdrawal from his fight with Derek Chisora because of an abdominal injury.

But the IBF and WBO champ has claimed the Londoner is a "PR world champion" who "p****s me off". Klitschko derided Haye's achievements in the ring, claiming he has beaten no one.

"The only boxer to p*** me off is David Haye," he said. "Who the hell is he? His biggest achievement was a decision over Nikolai Valuev. Haye is a PR world champion."

Klitschko has 30 days to agree a fight with Haye or rearrange a Chisora date. Tomasz Adamek is the third name in the frame.

Gutted Chisora claims he won't allow Haye to elbow him aside and insists he is still ahead of him in the queue to fight Klitschko.

Mainstream press are picking up on the fight :bbb

I don't see what weight Chisora's got to force the fight. Warren doesn't seem too bothered.

Warren likely stands to make more out of an unbeaten Chisora with his softly-softly approach than by feeding him to Wlad now.

I have to agree with Wlad when he says David is a ***** for planning to retire at 31.

Why? All boxers have different levels of hunger, different achievements that fulfil them. Off the top of my head do you think Naz is a ***** for retiring at 28? Or Marciano at 32? Nothing wrong with getting out of this game while you still have your faculties, and let's face it, after fighting Wlad/Vitali what's left to prove?
